For any1 that does XC in townsville caan you please tell me when the next XC race is on at douglas. It seems like its been 6 months since pythons was torn up. Ive checked the website (below) but no mention of it... or any upcoming races at all. Dont give me a hard time with this thread, ive asked all of my XC mates and they have no idea and i want answers.

XC in rural QLD is a bit like that. Nothing happening down this way or in Mackay either. Its a pain, because theres plenty of riders out and abouts. Just no organisation.

Fatty,
There are still plenty of dedicated XC riders in Tville, however most aren't into the web forum thing (we are actually out riding our bikes instead).
We are organising rides most Sunday mornings and alternate between Douglas and Mt Stuart tracks (usually a 630 kickoff). Drop in to Top Brand Cycles or Tonys Bikes and someone should be able to give you the low down.
Not too sure about this Sunday as there is some serious drinking and shenanigans to be had. Sunday 16th October will definately be happening.
Buzz me on 0414274699 between now and the day and I shall let you know whats happening and where.

are these sunday morning rides suitable for novice/intermeadiate/semi-unfit riders or are these for people crazy enough to ride in the heat XC?

We have had a few other newcomers coming out riding of late. We had a group of 8 last weekend, 4 newbies. Yes, it is getting quite warm at this time of the year. We try to keep the pace at a social - medium pace, anything more is suicide in this heat. We're sure to stop and let EVERYONE catch up and catch their breath. We usually try and roll into town (or nearby) for a coffee or a smoothie afterwards. Give us a call and we can arrange time/meeting point for the weekend
