My avatar is a pretty good portrait (well, i think). :D

I've taken photos of other less ugly people using the same lighting and cropping method too and they look really good. Its a circular fluresent lamp which doesen't make strong shadows.

On high res photos you can see the circular light refelcetion in their eyes too. Really good for chicks with good skin (as it shows up any imperfections).

Beautifull pics XMetal, nice car too (liberty pride). BTW what camera are you shooting with and would you mind sharing how you took the first piccy of the Liberty. I'm guessing you mounted the camera to the car somehow?

Tripod + Occy Straps = Ghetto Rig! :D

Canon EOS 350D. :)

Sekt: No the slipway picture isn't HDR, i've been wanting to have a crack at doing some HDR stuff but i'm still a bit vague on the Photoshop aspect of it.

ajay: That shot of the frozen lake (I guess?) is AMAZING. Fix up the levels and brighten it a bit and it'll look killer.

Its actually the "Salar de Uyunni" (a massive salt flat in Bolivia) with about an inch of water covering the thing - about 12,000 square kms.

Just a totally random photo as i was getting back into the jeep.

I will endevor to fix it up sometime...

Cheers.

Solarised? What's with the white circle?

Over exposed the background so when I solarised it the clock tower would look like a skeleton. Then I droped a 20cent piece on the print before I solarised it to make that white circle (it was ment to look like a moon)
Its not that great compared to what Im doing these days but it was the first good art piece I ever did and it still informs the work I do today.

Did you walk up and around to the right? you have to climb through some trees and a waterfall to bring you out onto a natural lookout that perches about 2/3's of the way up the falls?

Pretty much on that ledge up in the top right of your shot.

Seeing as this thread is becoming rather large, it could be well worth listing what camera was used to take these shots, and if at all possible some basic settings too. I for one am on the look out for a new camera as are many others on here, so it could become quite a useful data base...

No such thing as the best shot I've ever taken as it depends on my mood on how I judge them, more my favourite at the moment. I took this a couple of days ago. Canon 300D Tamron 28-75 2.8f

Enjoy!

I think you'll find you need a really long exposure time, you pritty much need to take such a picture in a fairly dark environment, or fast moving water.

just took this photo today around 1:30pm using a kodak cx7530
i've never really been good at taking photos but i've heard that using a flash would give a better photo so i tried using the fill flash. because nobody would take the photo for me... i had to use the timer function, took me about 50 attempts to get in the photo, and on the rock face before the timer went off but i think this photo is worth it.
nothing really flash compared to most of the stuff on this thread but i like it especially the grass:p

Whaat? is that a sequence shot? I thought it was a picture of a group of men in red snowboarding down a hill zig-zag, in a line? JOKING

Judging by the amount of times the same snowboarder is seen in that one photo, wouldn't it be a 34 sequence shot?....correct me if i'm wrong.

But yeah, that is beautiful stuff, I especially love the waterfall one and the snow flakes on the hand-rail one.

Yeah yeah .... 34 images used in final outcome, 38 shots taken. First two were too far up in the shadows they became irrelevent and last two over lapped too much as she came onto the flat towards me.

Waterfall is the best of a heap of shots taken at same location. Hand held at 1/8sec balancing on a rock is tricky but gave the desired result. Plenty of aperture drag.

I was going to say Golden Orb spider but then i looked it up and found out that it's a Garden Orb Weaver spider, hopefully...
I don't think they are dangerous, however i wouldn't want one on my face either! :p

As for the photo i have posted, let's just say it's of a favourite subject of mine but wasn't actually taken by me. Our neighbour took the pic of my dog, who has a habit of looking over the fence.

Just the camera flash (EOS400D). The village where the photo was taken was at the end of a 10 hour trek, and I didn't feel like carting my big flash at the time. Prob should have, but such is life.

thought it must have been, just looks a bit hot in parts and kind of flat like you get with inbuilt flashes. the feeling of the shot is great, though. also really like the two new ones you put up (the B&W of the temple, and the waterfall) - looks like a great trip!
