The 2006 launch was a week or two ago here in Perth for one particular shop...one of my mates was lucky enough to attend...

I was lucky enough to attend the 2006 Norco Launch held at a hotel in South Perth on September 27th. It was the first launch i had gone too and it was pretty impressive.

The 2006 Norco range is pretty nice. With the introduction of the Six all mountain series and the 614 it looks to be a strong competitor to Giant and other brands.

My pick for the 2006 Norcos would definitely be the Norco Ryde and Norco 125, Norco 250 and Norco 614.

This year the ryde comes with Sun S-Type rims which are strong and is a good upgrade from last years wheelset. The frame is very similar to last years but is in a classic matt black. Also the bike comes with a truvativ boxguide and bashguard, and Marzocchi Dirt Jam Comps with 120mm travel.

The 125 in the magazines and on the net looks to be a weird cream colour but let me assure you it is an stunning white, looks like an ice white powder coat. It comes with sun MTX rims and like its brother a boxguide. It also uses DMR motodigger tyres which were quite chunky and looked quite nice in the flesh. Perhaps one of the biggest shock to me was the sora short cage derelleur (maybe the companies are starting to listen to the riders) and rapid fire shifters.

The 250 frame is very similar to last years but a big shock was that it now has an intergrated headset (WHY!!!) It comes with quality parts including snafu chainring, seatclamp and grips. It is singlespeed with a 25T front chainring and 12t rear. It also comes with S-Type rims (or MTX i think theres been a mixup in the catalogue). It has the 2006 Dirtjumper 3's which now run a 20mm thru axle. Also has dmr moto digger tyres.

The 416 in my opinion is a new step for the street scene. With a more sleek frame than the 250 it was the first thing that caught my eye when i walked in. Sun MTX rims and road cassete, sram derelleur, Avid juicy 5 hydro disc brakes, FSA CK-42 Chromoly Cranks, e13 chain device in the 36t version, DJ 3's. Sadly it does have an intergrated headset.

Another bike worth mentioning more in the "Freeride/Downhill" side of things would be the Torrent which had high expectations to live up to. With a unique but good looking frame design it came with MTX rims, Marzocchi 66 VF, Holzfeller cranks, syncros bars and headset, Avid Juicy 5 8", Full Sram x.7 gearing.

RRP
Ryde: $1299.95
125: $1599.95
250: $1799.95
416: $2199.95
Torrent: $2799.95

Hey All,

BMX has been in for about a month now.
I have the first of the 26" bikes in front of me right now with an absolute SHITE load of containers arriving over the next few weeks. As always lower end bikes are arriving first but stuff like Sasquatches, Maniks and Rydes are arriving in the next 1-3 weeks. Havoc is in today.

Just to clarify the Sun S-type and MTX are the exact same rim except for the decals (the S-Type even says MTX in little letters on the decal).

The 06 Ryde has the 125/4Hun frame from last year but lightened up a bit.

Dually's are a little later than others at the moment. 95% of bikes will be here before X-mas.

Cheers,

Derek @ Norco.Au

If you are in Melbourne there will be an 06 launch at BSC in a few weeks time. Date is not finalised but we should have it worked out by the end of the week. Keep an eye out here.
All the bikes plus heaps of freebies and hot deals on remaining 05 stock.

Don't say you didn't hear it here first! (this is now the first time it has become public knowledge!)
