i have been seeing a huge amount of posters that have 5 or less posts in the for sale area they continue to post without sticking to the rules...i thought the whole point of the system was that people would need to post 10(what i thinks low) or so good posts, before having to apply to join the for sale section
but i believe someone is allowing them to be part of the for sale without doing whats required.
would this be breaking forums rules?
and can something be done about it because the amount of stupid posts is getting dam right stupid...
cheers Tim

10 posts are not a deadset requirement (although you are more likely to gain trading access if you have shown yourself to be a constructive forum member).
Applicants can gain access if they can construct a legible paragraph explaining why their access should be granted.
This is all detailed in the thread in the announcments forum. So no, no one is breaking any rules, other than those being pests in the trading forum. I suggest next time you find someone not abiding by the trading forum rules then PM one of the mods/admin with a link to the offending post and request that it's dealt with that way.

ok it just seems like it used to be harder then, what it is now...anyone can write a bit of dribble(yes i know im great at it) and get it passed
i just think that things have changed and its making my forums harder for you guys(mods) to do your job and cluttering up the forums.
i will leave it at that and in your hands
cheers

btw i have to say thanks to all the people who have made this site work..

Sorry, I'm a little confused about what you're getting at here.
From memory, the decision was made by Scott in consultation following discussion with the rest of the admin/mod group, and was brought up after a number of members raised concerns about the previous rules. The issue was that people who would otherwise be reasonable members were hurriedly spamming the boards in an effort to reach the 10 post mark so that they could get access to the trading forums.
I also fail to see how you can have any idea about the "dribble" that people are writing and getting accepted for. The only people that can see those submissions are the group leaders who do the approvals. You're right though in that there are a lot of crap submissions made, but I know that I for one generally deny access to people who can't even construct a single legible sentence.
I do understand your concerns, but there are definately reasons that the system exists as it does, and as I said in my original reply if you notify us of the problem users you're noticing then we can deal with them as we come across them. That's probably the best way you can help to solve the problem.
When I'm processing applications, I usually deny at least 5 for every new member who gets approved. The very fact that I DON'T want to create more work for myself a month down the line when the new member proves to be an idiot dictates that the vast majority of poorly worded responses get an automatic denial. I only ever grant acceptance to an unproven (read: low post count) member when it's clear that they've read all of our rules and have made a genuine effort to convey their understanding of them in their application. I'd say that my approach is similar to that of the vast majority of the modmin team, we don't just approve imbeciles willy-nilly and we make a genuine effort to weed idiots out of the system if we do grant access and they later prove to be unworthy of it. You can help us by bringing people who are abusing the system to our attention and in 99.9% of cases we will act on it, even it's just sending the offender a quiet PM telling them to pick their act up. We will not hesitate to remove access from people who can't take a hint.

i believe you are right with scott making the decision(thats what grip told me anyway). i did not think that people would need to spam to raise ten posts as it is really such a small number, but can understand why the decision was made.

i also could of worded things better,i wasnt meaning the proposals for for sale section as dribble,i was refering to what i have seen in wanted section etc in the last few weeks
on this not this thread can be locked unless you believe that it would be interesting to hear from other members of the forums or have more to say on the topic.i have found out what i was looking for
cheers Tim
