Anyone have problems with the cadence unit of a Polar (720)? It seems to be halving my rate. I know (+/- 5rpm) when I'm doing 90rpm, but the unit shows 45! A little frustrating.

Any suggestions? I'm thinking of replacing the magnet on the crank to see if that helps at all.

hmmm..... any problem I've had with a polar has been solved with a new battery. i was busting my ass for over month trying to get my heart rate over 165..... only to replace the battery and find that it would have been much higher.

does the cadence unit have its own battery?

I have had a few sensor/battery issues with my polar setup (720) It seems that they have trouble (particularly the watch) when using several features/components together especially when the battery is starting to drain a little. I have had cadence issues as well. A stronger magnet did the trick and a few new batteries. I have sent my watch back twice because I can't get it to upload data via the IR USB port to my computer. This is pissing me off because they keep sending it back saying there is NO PROBLEMS with it. As well as the fact the USB sensor was something like $90-100. All it will be good for is strangling the next Polar rep that can't figure out why my watch doesn't work properly.

Chuck, I think it does - but it's brand new so I wouldn't have expected that to be an issue.

Mike, I'll try the magnet and let you know. Are you in Sydney? I can take a look at the IR on my laptop if you like. It has one built in which is far easier than using the plug in version.

M@DM!KE, I had the same prob with mine (IR USB not uploading). I sent an email to Polar in Finland. They got back to me within a couple of days and suggested that something in my motherboard or XP or some such other thing was not recognising the IR reader - even though it had in the past. For them to work this out I had to download my computer settings and email it to them as a text file (which they explained how to do). They sent me a new one (new generation) within a week on the proviso that I send the old one back to them. I was sceptical, but bugger me, it worked a treat. Their customer service was fantastic.

hope that helps mate.

Cheers mate,
I will give that a go. I did buy a lap top recently and it works fine on it, just not the PC.
