Trails are disappearing from out under the townsville mountain bikers tires! Yesterday me and my mate journied to our most noteable downhill "oceana". Around the base and up the mountain the land had been raped by dozers and various other diesel digging machines! What was once bush is now a real estate agents playground! The end of the track has lost its jumps and surveying vehicles have destroyed berms. The apparent neglect has drawn the attention of trail bike riders who think the Mountain bikers have been chased away, they too have done there part in the trails downfall! Where will it stop? According to the surveyors markers not till they reach the top, a whole range has been devoured in a matter of days! This afternoon another capital kick in the nuts the land hungry trucks have destroyed the bushland and trails on the other side too! This even more upsetting as the trail was brand new, and sooo near to completion our knees could taste the blood and dirt! Now they may have the right to destroy but these are all we have! I dont know of anyone who knew about it either! Townsville is very flat aswell and these mountains are rare! Im done.
FUCK POPULATION GROWTH, FUCK THE URBAN SPRAWL, FUCK THE MONEY HUNGRY PIGS, R.I.P. THOSE TREES AND THOSE ROCKS AND THAT DIRT AND ALL THE ANIMALS WHO JUST LOST A HOME!
As long as we've got dirt and wheels we're still going to ride.

mate i feel ya pain,
lets just hope that mt stuart will go ahead and proper dh tracks will be built and maintained.
maybe you can put your anger into g-ing up and busting out on the new jacobs designed dirtjump park that is proposed to be built near the skate park.
good luck and whenever you feel down, watch the hypnosis teaser.

farken hell mate. why do you have to be so negative? is there any mention of our club in there who have been working hard for many years on many different projects. this sport isnt made up of random heros, clubs make it happen. was there a need to make 2 topics in 2 different threads btw???
be a part of the club and you will understand there are many other tracks around as well as those in development. i dont get out there much these days but as far as i know if you go onto the next ridge there are some more xc tracks and dh tracks getting built over in that direction.
we also have mt stuar about to kick off which will be unreal. so if you want to see more tracks in townsville rideable get involved! keep an eye and an ear out at lbs's (tonys and top brand...see dan there) for more info!
there is my reply to your other topic.

Is there really any harm in expressing yourself? What if this matnurb guy can't make it to louisa for lack of transport? I am all for clubs doing what they do and I appreciate all the work that you guys have done but that doesn't mean that we should settle for ONLY ONE more track being built. My mates and I are currently in the process of questioning everyone and anyone who might be able to get us permission to use other land that is closer to the Uni.
Hope all goes well with the track...hopefully we can get over this loss and come out on the other side better off!:D

Yer it is a pity.. Although i don't think anyone can appreciate how much work goes into building a good track unless they have done it themselves. The people who knocked it down wouldn't think twice
