That looks awesome but you wouldn't want to get cleared up by getting hit in the head while near that crossover jump thing.

Uhhm. Where's Beechworth exactly?
</ignorant question>
Looks cool, maybe a bit narrow and too close to the trees? Although that's hard to judge just through pictures alone. Should be fun regardless.
Looks like a lot of fun, but maybe a bit narrow with 4 riders as rik said. How is it being built? Is it by hand or have you had diggers in there?

If you're talking about the 6th pic ,don't worry , the 4X track crosses over the XC trail. Not part of the 4X track.
Paul , is that the tabletop in the 7th pic , with a bigger lip now?
looks like a great track so far, good work beechworth chain gang. i'll have to make a trip down there one weekend not too far away

Well done to youse blokes in Beechworth. I've been watching the development of the Beechworth MTB park for a while now - my grandmother lives in Beechworth so my bike comes along now for a visit to nans - and these blokes really put some effort into this riding area. Not only that they are friendly too. Do yourself a favour and check out this place.

It's all at least 4m wide, wider in spots. The jumps and features will be widened to at least this width. I've been to and seen the 4x race at the National Champs at Eildon and I can assure u it's bigger/wider than that. Some trees may have to disappear though if safety is an issue. The whole point of 4x is to be fighting for different lines and apart from the first 10m where everyone has their own lane, it's a free for all after that ! :)
Yeah spinner, the tabletop has been built up late this arvo, had the bobcat for another 1.5hrs....big launcher now !

North East Victoria, 25min south of Albury/Wodonga, 3hrs from Melbourne, 4hrs from Canberra, Mt Beauty is 1hr away, Bright 35min and Wangaratta on the Hume Fwy is 25min. If you're travelling along the Hume Fwy b/w Melbourne and Sydney or Canberra, Beechworth is only an extra 20min drive off the Fwy, BYO bike. I sound like a tourism commercial don't I ! The 4x track is ridable now but it should be totally complete (ie- new features, made bigger, tweaked out and final touches) before Xmas.
I'll be heading up to Beechy this friday, I'll bring the bike if it fits in my car! Would you mind telling where the track is? Cheers

The Mountain Bike Park and most of the trails around Beechworth are granite based and get better with some moisture (more traction). In the dry, even the past week, they have been really slippery. We haven't had much rain (yet)...only started a little tonight. The only bits which might need to be avoided are a couple of small sections on the 4x track that have had earthworks today as they might not have settled yet...wheels over them if it's wet won't help. Dries out quickly though.
excellent - coz it's pretty wet in Melb at the moment!

damn! that track looks like shitloads of fun!
but one question....what do the people who can't do all the jumps do? the cross-over jump didn't look rollable, and neither many of the doubles...
other than that it looks good though.

1. They dont finish
2. They get shuttled to the down ramp
3. they try and eat shit

All hard lines like the doubles and the step-up have an easier option around them. U can't always see them in the pics.
Cheers, Paul
I just came back from Beechworth today - excellent tracks up there! Thanks again to Gravity for the directions :)
Friday was pretty wet, so I mainly did the freeride trails - glorious fun - I found it quite technical..
Today was much drier, so I tried my hand at the DJ's. Seeing that I'm just getting into DJ'ing, I gave the doubles a miss (didn't really feel like casing my bike just yet) and concentrated on getting my technique tuned on the table tops - ended up getting slapped in the face by some of the low branches! I'll be running the doubles next time I visit though!
