View Full Version : Bumping for sale stuff

It seems that there are a shitload of "for sale" threads which seem to get bumped daily (and half daily in some cases), so, are the rules still in effect or is this not an area which is enforced anymore...
As there is quite a post traffic in the for sale forums, new posts can move down and off the page quite quickly. This is why we allow thread bumping (in moderation). Thread bumping is the process whereby the buyer replies to the thread with the word *BUMP* in it to get their post back to the top of the For Sale threads list. However, there are limitations:
- You may only bump a thread once every three days, with a maximum for 3 bumps unless the price is lowered. Excessive bumping will result in a warning or thread locking.

Make sure I don't find it, cause i'll just remove your thread.

I agree. People also say something pointless about the rig for "added info" to get it re bumped but all its doing is abusing the forum. No-one wants to scroll through a million bumps to see a new piece of news.
Checking the post dates on those sales that stay at the top of the list for ages proves that people are bumping twice or thrice daily. Its just annoying.
I suppose we have to see it, and notice it before we can do anything, so thanks for bringing it up Daver. Will try to keep an eye on it and like Squid I'll delete the "over bumpers"

Agreered.
Just a query, does this rule also apply to the "wanted" section?
I was always under the impression it was, but have been seeing this happen more and more in there lately too.

quick question, is it within the rules to bump a thread within the three days if there is a price drop? because in a lot of cases i would rather sell something sooner and lose a few bucks than have it hang around for months unsold.
Another thing that I'm keeping an eye on is mates "vouching" for bikes, and also randoms giving "free bumps". Do it and you can expect your post to be deleted, do it repeatedly and you can take a holiday from the forum. Trading forums are not a place for posting superfluous fluff, if you're not participating in the sale, keep out.

Yeah I'd say that's fair game.

I completely agree with the bump scenario.
but it is getting to the point, where so many posts are happening that your for sale item gets put back 2-3 pages over night sometimes, its ridiculous ..
In other words, im just backing up the mods, by saying, if everyone stopped posting stupid shit, there wouldnt be any need to bump threads so often.!!
I'm getting pretty sick of excessive bumping, as well as the afformentioned "vouching". I don't know where the rest of the team stand on this topic, but I'll be happy to dish out 3 day bans left right and centre to stop sellers from bumping at intervals less than 3 days ;)

Your a very angry man Rik, a very angry man.
I would just like to vouch for the quality of the post you presented. Consider this a free bump.
In all seriousness: Im not sure if its more sales, but when my item is on page 3 after 24hrs... gives me the shits.
