This looks like quite a nice piece of machinery wanted to get in to XC a bit and the convience of locking out the forks on the fly!

Hi Welcome to Farkin :)
Just as a friendly reminder general MTB discussion is for topics relating to cycling in general. Your post probably belongs to the "roads/cross country" or "Parts 'n Stuff / What Should I Buy?" forum where you will find people will appreciate it a lot more. Also as a side note, you can find an “edit” button on your post where you can add any further details to a post that you made already.
As for XTC2, giant made bikes that are pack with goodies for the price you pay for. $1800 is a bargain for an 06 bike that valued $2000 RRP.

I bought the '05 XT2 le, only downside to the bike was the Manitou Skareb comp fork as it VERY soft and bobs far too much for a XC fork. I know the '06 XTC2 has this sorted with a good Rock Shox Recon fork, from memory.
I got a 05 XT2 le for $1350 from Onya in Tuggeranong Canberra. Since buying this 3 months ago I upgraded the fork to a Marz Comp with ETA that far better suits this bike.
The rims (117's) are not the best but have lasted this long.....

I have an XtC2 Its a nice bike its not the same spec as what your looking at but the frames the same.
I solved the mushy fork problem by fitting rigid forks. No bobbing for me.

I have an '05 XTC 2. No problem with bobbing because it is an AIR fork, just pump it up harder? Or did you think the compression damping was too quick? Anyway as mentioned 06 models have a different fork.
I found the bike to be good quality, except for the cheap hubs. Shimano 475's and they weren't greased well by Giant, or the shop... They're not exactly smooth.
Good handling, not too twitchy for an XC bike though really benefitted from risers which 05 models didn't come with.

The forks on the '05 models could only handle 150psi max I put 190psi in them and they still bobed like crazy when sprinting or standing.
I also considered a riser but my new fork having 120mm over the old 80mm raised the front end and I also moved spacers around to increase the bar height by a measely 8mm or so.
The Recon fork won't have this problem.
