The best one i went to was in 1996... The Mark of Cain played main stage and that was 57 kinds of awesome.

i miss the homebake days where the following bands would play everytime without fail.
- tumbleweed
- magic dirt
- you am i
- ammonia
- The Porkers

The Mark of Cain are doing an Australian tour in the new year and yes John Stanier will be playing with them for every show. :D

I used to work at Homebake as a sideline when I was at Uni. I was the spoilsport who sits out near the Sydney eye hospital and makes sure the concert didn't go too loud :o

On the plus side, because I had to work with the sound desk guys in setting up the sound system I got an Access All Areas pass. So when my half of the gig was done I would go backstage and watch the remaining gigs in comfort, free JB and coke in hand. Watching Nick Cave from 3m away sitting with the guys from Shihad/Pacifier was just ace :D Met a lot of cool bands and a few weirdos as well (Machine Gun Fellatio spring to mind - very, very debauched).

I remember one year I lent my mate Matt my spare AAA pass while I was working outside the compound. Then, when I came back in to see if I could find where he'd gotten to, I see the drunken idiot wander out right into the middle of the main stage behind the band and take a photo of the crowd! I could have died :) and so would he, if the security had gotten their hands on him.
