Nice ad's, shame about the beer though. I think they should invest more into the quality of their product.

Thats a good point.

I now homebrew, and the beer is SO MUCH better than the shit you buy. Truly it is.

Got to be Cooper's Pale Ale. 'Tis the finest beer in Australia.

That Tennents ad is GOLD!
But you are right, the big red T is bloody awful, although not nearly as bad as 'The Purple Bastard' Tennents Super.

I wouldn't go as far as bloody awful but at 4% it's not exactly got a distinctive taste!

Still could be worse, 10 years ago if you went into a pub in the UK you'd only be able to get Tennents (North of the border), Carling (tennents in a different can!) Carlsberg (another 4% waste of space) or Fosters (ditto!)

Having said that they are quite good as if you're on a big night out and the Stellas, Heinekens, Grolsches etc. start to make the room spin they make a refreshing slightly less lethal change!

Stay away from the Purple Can however...

(also known as Electric Soup!)

On an island with so much real ale available, lager is sinful stuff. In Australia the warm climate lends itself to lager, but here? I'd much rather a pint of 80 than the lager. Still there is always occaision for each kind of beer, like next week for the Rochford beer festival.:D
Oh well, as far as lager goes it's a shame the Stella here is made here. The Belgian stuff is great.
My 2c worth.

Have a look around the local corner shops,

When I stayed in Middlesborough, all the local shops got all their merchandise on the black market from europe. There's a thriving industry with lads taking vans across the channel and stocking up on cheap booze and smokes before punting it off back in Blighty. We used to get 500ml cans of Stella that were brewed in Belgium for about 10p cheaper than we were paying for the 440ml UK brewed stuff from Tesco.

I'd steer clear of the wine though! pure anti-freeze !

I was wondering why the pouch of tobacco I got had flemish writing all over it.;) All the local shops, well the legal ones anyway, only have the local. It is possible to get the other stuff by other means though. There is a bus that goes to France every weekend, the damn thing is riding on it's axle when it comes back with all the grog and tobacco.:D
Oh the joys of VAT dodging.
