You've made 8 posts so far and not a single one of them has been worth reading.
If you want to survive any longer without getting a permanent ban then I suggest you start putting in at least enough effort to make your writings vaguely resemble english.

hmmm I think it can be just luck of the draw. Sometimes you'll get banned for something that will be only warned other days.
I do remember getting banned on a previous account for being exceedingly stupid.
Sammyboy will know what I'm on about.
However I think if the mods deem your behaviour inapporpriate you have to just accept it. Its like having teachers at school, complainign wont change much, they have the power.

You got banned for cruelty to the English language. "Lyk" a week? How much freaking harder is it to spell out the full length of "like"? That's just one example. Please post more coherently or we'll see you in, uh wait, no we won't.

It's a good thing the docs upped Ryan's dosage or there'd be more people abducted by the Farkin police and never heard of again.

No, actually I haven't.
You know what? You pay nothing to be on here and people work more than you are aware to keep this thing up and running. What makes you think you can have free run of the place just because you've logged on? We have thousands of active users who have never been banned. That's because they don't post shit.
Yeah sure the Admin/Mods have good and bad days, so does everyone. If you can't handle that, good luck getting through life ;)

And I'm a mod saying that!
Believe me, if I banned whoever and whenever I wanted about 50% of the users here would dissappear!

Follow Rules=No banning.
Easy.

I bet half of the users have not even read the Rules! So here you are. for anyone who has not read them!.
:!: Rules on Profiles :!:
1. You must have a valid EMail addres in your profile at all times
2. No inappropriate usernames.
3. Do not sign up twice if you would like a new account please contact the admin either by PMing him or by EMailing him.
:!: Rules on Posting :!:
4. No web addresses in the subject field
5. No posting in CAPS
6. No unnecessary bad language
7. No pornoghraphic pictures, pornoghraphic links or warezs sites, or any other illegal material in signatures.
8. No linking to or posting of pornographic pictures, pornoghraphic links, warezs sites or any other illegal material
9. No posting pointless threads or spamming the boards, such as something that can be handeled with the search engine
10. No insulting of other members what so ever
11. No selling of any illegal goods what so ever
12. No sexist, racist or homophobic content of any sort will be tolerated. This applies to ALL forums.
13. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and bashing opon them will result in consequences

I second that, we really do need one or two more moderators to keep things in order. This week I have been to at least three threads which I believe are pointless and/or confusing to read. I don't really care who take the job but we need some more mods soon. One example of a pointless and confusing thread (which has been closed) would be this http://forums.farkin.net/showthread.php?t=41929 and possibly this http://forums.farkin.net/showthread.php?t=41889 from the 'Phat Snaps' section. This really got me thinking... of what the hell was going on. The two points I'm trying to make is:
1. Those chosen few (Admins) you do have the power to delete threads.
2. Please stop being soo weak on people.
Don't be afraid to ban useless members (yes, I know I have been there at one point in my Farkin life) and hopefully we can get a better name. From this point on I'm not going to resist to hit the 'Bad Post' button (in moderation) to get this great web forum back on tracks (or back on its bike as you may.)
Long story short, don't post crap.
BTW: Notice my kickass spelling and grammar. :D

It's a fine line between keeping the forums free from crap and over-moderating. People's viewpoints differ on what constitutes something being offensive/stupid/ban-worthy and what is just a reasonable off-topic conversation or good debate. Living in a police state is even less fun than putting up with some crap from the few bad apples.

I think people should have more warning bans imposed on them, but with a small change, could we get an email or a PM about what we did wrong. Speaking from experience when I got banned I didn’t know why (now I do).

I'm sure that I read somewhere a rule about using correct spelling, not using SMS style abbreviations etc, which is why:
ppl
lyk
gr8
wot
and similar words will raise the ire of the admins, as will replacing "to" or "too" with 2, "for" with 4 etc.
If you're going to the trouble to post, that little extra effort is appreciated.

I believe that now when we ban someone there is provision to display a reason when the user tries to login, where as in the old version of vBB there wasn't.

As the other guys have said, it's hard to distinguish between what's just intolerabl crap, and what's pretty much useless banter that doesn't harm anyone (which realistically is ~30% of the forum). We can deal with a bit of it but anything that stands out DOES get taken care of. I don't know if you guys realise how many threads and posts get removed by the mods, because you don't get to see all of them, but let me tell you it's quite a lot.

I agree, I always tell them why. There is a function that tells them this as we are banning them, I only assume that it works.

I personally think that the for sale forums should be moderated much more strongly. There are plenty of posts of people selling items and they even say 'i am selling for a friend' and still nothing seems to be done about it. I think because the forum deals with actual REAL-LIFE things (ITEMS and MONEY), it is much more important than the other forums where somone is getting there feelings hurt because somone else said there bike 'sucks' =/... just my opinion.
Just a quick question regarding the For Sale forum.
Are mods assigned to certain Area's of the forums ? On larger boards this is often the case, especially during the busier periods. With 10'000 odd members now, this might become necessary.
I think the "General MTB" and the "Off Topic", "Downhill" etc is looked after well by the Mods.
A Mod for the "For Sale Forum" could be a good investment though.

Ok, well i just recently joined Farkin after hearing great vibes about it, and so far, there have been some really good experiences with experienced riders, but there is the biggest insult to the English Language going on in some threads, words like 'lyk', 'dno' and 'fink'. How hard is it too write, what, two or three extra letters!
Oh and by the way, the mods are doing an awesome job taking care of these baffoons. Good work guys!
By the way... Is it normal too get a warning? Say an email from a mod just to say that saying something is unacceptable and should not be said?
Relax mate; I can tell from the fact that I don't struggle to read your posts that there's a very low chance you'll get banned. But yes, you normally get a warning unless there's a huge history of stupidity and no signs of intelligence at all.

Yeah, like S. said, don't worry, just follow the rules and you should do fine. Just remember, never use the term "Gay" or "Fag" in the forums. Don't post crap and don't bag people out for having an opinion. Follow these rules and you should have no worries. (Spelling helps to) :D

You and me both brother, I f*%^&g HATE it. I don't like it because it maybe easier to write it, but it's actually harder to read it than proper English. I also don't like it because the person who wrote it instantly gets relegated in my mind to a 13 year old posting whilst in the school library because he is bored.
Typos are fine as long as your whole post isn't one. But MSN/text talk from a proper key board? Not on Farkin.
By the way... Is it normal too get a warning? Say an email from a mod just to say that saying something is unacceptable and should not be said?
What? You don't trust us?????? You're obviously talking about the PM and email I sent you after you posted this, eh?
I dont really get injured riding, but my most painful was when i was doing a dj that i mustve done hundreds of times, and I unintentionally whipped to the side, so i tried to bring it back in the slipped forward and the pointy bit of the seat went up my asshole, and it hurt to take a shit for like 3 weeks. I had my first, and hopefully last gay experience that day.
to which I simply told you...
That is an unfortunate accident NOT a gay experience, and to say so is being homophobic, which is not allowed here on Farkin. So please watch how you express yourself an make sure it stays within the rules. OK?
So please... what's your problem with being told this? Would you rather not get any warning? My finger is poised above the banning button as we speak... :p .... tell me.

Ha, this thread is quite a funny read - it really points out the fact that some nitwit members actually think their actions/posts are normal...when really they would benefit from 'a punch in the face' -
For those people that post poor grammar, spelling and other brain-numbing 'shizzae' please read a fucking dictionary for crying out loud - you will learn to use wording correctly, you will get some manners, and heaven forbid, you will learn some ethics.
Also, by posting 'engrish', we are all dumber for reading your crap:mad: EDUCATE OR DIE!
Mods have a duty of care to the users of Farkin, and they have a legal obligation to prevent the use of sexism, racism and other slander.
If farkin was full of knuckle-heads, i wouldnt be here. Truly, i have better things to do with my time.

For all those kiddies who got banned... How could you forget that ever so informative video??? I have done my own observing and havent seen the mods doing anything they shouldnt.. but i have seen members doing things that they shouldnt be. Whether the mods are onto that i dont know. If anything, ive had all good experiences with the mods on here, they all seem to be willing to help. Ive also seen some members which would make great mods. But all in all, im happy :D

Who is the bigger tightass, those using a free service to their advantage without contributing at all, or those putting in alot of their own time and effort in running said service?

i dont think farkin is over modded. when i first signed up i thought that you could use msn/text typing but after a couple of weeks of being a member i soon learnt that it was against the rules so i now use proper english. thats one example of how i could have been banned and another one is a mate got on my account and payed out some ones jumps by calling them "gay"(i dont know what to put instead:( ). even though it wasn't me the mods would not have known that and i could have got banned.
you probaly dont all want to hear my life story so ill just keep it short. the mods are doing a gud job so keep up the good work guys.;)

But actually, I agree with you. We ARE tightarses. And that's why you're banned for three days, for no real reason. :)

I love reading through this thread, it's like trawling for all the whingers and mods weilding the banning stick on them. Call it a little unusual but it appeals to my slightly unusual sense of humour.
What can I say, I've been using this site on and off for two and a half years or so and I think the mods do a great job, although sometimes I think the stick should be swung more often with some of the tripe that goes up. So a big thankyou to all the mods from a grateful fat character.:)
I reckon this site is well mod'ed, due to the fact that they are onto it quickly and they don't take any shyte. We seem to have too many young punks that think that a large post count is an extension of their pre-pubescent manhoods. Shame really...:(
this is true, the grommets do love to post up absoloute shit on the insideline forums just to get a foooly siiick post count:rolleyes:
but a complete banning on the word huck. complete banning on all forms of swearing (a little bit is acceptable, just nothing over the top) and having posts deleted cause some of the mods dont agree with your opinions is a bit of a joke.... over modded, and ill stand by that.
runs away and hides from the insideline mods in fear they may dish out a complete banning to poor old slo... no im not scared!
Would you like some cheese with your whine?

I would just like to point out that this is my favourite thread of all time! It is soo funny yet soo true. I think we all are to blame about the MSN talk. At one point we all have just not bothered to think about what we type and wrote out something that was impossible to read. Somebody reads the post and says, "Hey, if he wrote that word out like that then surely I can to." From there it spreads. I have no idea what I am talking about so I will stop there. :p
(No spelling mistakes!
**EDIT**
OMG! I made one mistake!

Sorry mate, but I can absolutely, positively guarantee I have never done that. I'm one of those anal types who even write everything out properly when sending a text message. I actually think it's a mark of respect to show some effort in what you're puting out there for others to read. Like the old saying goes... if it's worth doing then it's worth doing well. And wouldn't the world be a better place if everyone adopted that philosophy;)

i have to admit i do that too. the only thing i really abbreviate is you, 'u', because its not really that hard to understand and it saves space. i'd rather send 2 messages than one that takes 5 minutes to decypher.

[OT] Hehe, you have to be careful who you watch these days. An acoustic consulting company I used to have dealings with once put a noise logger on a road next to a school without notifying them. Some nancy at the school thought it might be a bomb and called the police, who blew up the $10,000 meter just in case :D

Think about that nine dude, all of his posts were pure dribble, then he pulls out some pretty impressive writing (for what i assumed of him) in his pm to Pretty mistake. Even though it was uncalled for in it's nature, his writing was quite imaginative.

it makes you think people aren't all 15This is an important point, it's always quite shocking when you put someone into the '14 year old MSN kiddie' basket then find out later they're a 34 year old investment banker or some such. How much respect people have for you and your views is dependant on what you actually say and how well you say it.

Well at the very least, a lot more frequently right and frequently honourable than our current PM.
(Umm, have they passed those sedition laws yet? That was "in good faith as constructive criticism", really it was!)
I like the sound of that.
"Yes Mr Duffy, you are *permitted* to drive your vehicle into Sydney, but first,it is compulsory that it be fitted with one of these ingenious and well made (at an astoundingly good price too I should add) steel racks suitable for the shuttling of 3 downhill rigs."
Some how that doesn't suprise me, but if I ever get a text message (txt msg- 4 u that cant rd nrml) from Grip I'd appreciate that.
Now I'm not 100% sure here, but I think alchemist is saying he agrees with, or at least appreciates, my efforts. Of course if I find out down the track that he's hanging shite upon my person then I'm going to 9/11 his arse. (now was that cool, without being abreviated?)

I don't know if he's been a problem bfore, but he's certainly making one for himself now. Silly thing to come on and say the things he has. If he didn't mean to be rude in his first post, then he should have worded things a little better. If he doesn't want to get banned again, I suggest he stops calling mods silly names.
