I feel a little bit out of place posting this amidst all these sweet dually's. can't wait til funds allow me to get one (not anytime soon).
Here's my little pride and joy. Doubles as a commuter with the skinny slicks on it. Had it about 8 months now. Love it. Main specs are:
Hone cranks
Avid mech brakes
XT hubs on Mavic 223 rims
got a Thomson stem I managed to get for $60 of eBay ready to go but it's not going on until after the Kona 24 as I don't want to mess with my position on the bike so soon before a long ride.

Don't feel out of place. Single speeds are great. Mine is relegated to pub duties or the occaisional trail ride, they remind me of when I was a young bloke when gears were only on roadies and dragsters.:D

You need a longer stem! :D ;)
Great bike. What are the forks?

I remeber you! Up at You Yang's earlier this year, we had a chat in the car park!
Anyways, sweet bike, Relly digging ss xc bikes these days.

I almost bought one a few months ago. Giant were doing a crazy price on those frames as part of their runout! But unfortunately i had no use for it, argh.

There is no reason to feel threatened by the duallies. Rigid single speed rules! A tip however would be to put on a thicker tyre on the front so you don't kill your arms while ripping up the single track.

Nice one Norricam! Were you the bloke telling me how you were going to surprise all your mates with your new Intense?
The front fork is a surly 1*1. Nice and rigid. I could go the larger volume front tire for the 'faux' suspension but as it’s to be used in x-country stuff, all the trails are fairly smooth sailing. I've got a slightly bigger, knobblier set of panaracers (yellow sidewalls of course) when I want a bit more padding or its muddy out.
I'm running 38:18 on it in the picture and it's been great at Lysterfield and the You Yang's, hopefully it'll be great at Redesdale too. I've been 'training' (riding to work) with a 16 tooth cog in the back with skinny tires and I also try to rock out the big ring on the roadie whenever I ride to build up the mashing strength I'll need on the climbs so when I hit the dirt, the 18 tooth feels great (comparatively). I'm pretty glad to see the Brunswick Cycle guys will be out there in case I need to pick up an unramped 36-tooth ring to ease the slogs up the hills.
I'd hate to see what the price on the frame is now; I think I saw over on mtbr that Giant had dis-continued this frame so they mustn’t have been too big of a hit. Picked mine up for $750 and I didn't feel too gouged so I guess it's all sweet, it's an awesome light frame (which I guess I've negated with the heavy parts.
Don't know about the longer stem, I really like how the bike feels and it doesn't seem to beat me up even after a few hours in the saddle. Seems like a cruiser after a day on the roadie. I've never been much of one to fiddle constantly with positioning; perhaps I've just grown accustomed to it?
Can't beat a bike that never skips gears!

Wow, that would be pretty light wouldn't it?

The weight is pretty good (don't know exactly), I remember marvelling at it when I first got it home but like everything it's all relative. My other ride is a carbon fibre roadie so the SS feels like a tank everytime I hop on it.
The frame alone felt feather light out of the box.

Post up the weight it should be fairly light. Also how much did this babe set you back Frame wise? Nice bike. Solo entry for the kona 24?

Frame I got for $750 a klittle over 6 months ago, rrp was listed at $1000. Someone posted above that they've been going cheaper lately but I can't really help you out on that one.
Pretty sure it's a 21" which makes it a large, can't remember off the top of my head! I went the same size as my previous frame (giant ATX) as I really liked how it fit me. I'm reasonably tall so I probably could have gone up to an XL.
I'm at work right now but I'll grab it and jump on the bathroom scales when I get home to get a rough weight, I'll be interested to see what it is myself.

And it's a 3 man Kona team. The other 2 riders are using it as training for their upcoming adventure races, I think I'm going to get pushed pretty hard by them.

for those that care it comes out at around 11.2 kg, it could be built up way lighter though. All a matter of $$$ i guess.
