View Full Version : 06 Stp Zero
Giday guys, I'm new to the site, so i thought i would show you guy my new ride. It's a pretty cool bike, i havent had many problems with it, basically stock appart from the seatclamp and sram x-9 (had to get another derailleur due to the x-7 getting twisted up in the spokes and getting bent up quite badly.) The bike is pretty stock, although im contemplating getting a new frame after christmas or whenever i save up some money! (which may lead to converting it to a singlespeed) also i want to get some new pedals quite soon, thinking probaly crankbros 5050.
The specs:
- Rockshox Pike SL coil sprung fork w/Motion Control damping 90-145mm of adjustable travel
- SDG I-Sky saddle
- SDG I Beam 30.9 freestyle
- TruVativ Holzfeller ISIS splined 22/32T with bashguard
- Sun Rhyno Lite 26” x 36H w/eyelets
- Scram 9 Rear Derailleur
- Easton EA50 handlebars
- Easton Vice stem

If you like heavy pedals that are rediculously priced by crank brothers 5050's. However you will probably find spenning 170ish on v12 or 80ish? on v8s would be well better spent.
Anyway, nice bike there, are you contemplating a chain device before the new frame or are you just going to run the front derailluer as a guide?

Cheers mate, If i get a new frame i think i will be running a singlespeed, just because i dont like the idea of having to bend the cage back into shape all the time. And also the simplicity of a singlespeed seems like the way to go for dirt jumps and street. On that point, does anyone do any down hill riding/racing with a singlespeed?
As far as the stp zeros being as popular as a 'lebo' and a wrx, personally i havent seen anyone else on a 06 stp zero, although i've seen a couple of people on the 05 stp zero and stp ones.

Don't stress about it champ, about 6-9 months ago on Farkin STPs were the coolest things ever made. Like many popular things there's now a backlash where it's easy to get in a cheap shot and dis them. Ignore the wankers, get out there and thrash the spuds off the sucker and have a ball.

Cheers camO, I don't get too stressed over people who don’t like to bike or think that its too common. I didn’t buy it because it was an individual bike, I know that you can walk into any giant dealership and buy exactly the same bike as I have (apart from the scram x-9s!) so I understand that its not very individual. Although I’m unfortunately not rolling in cash, if money wasn’t an issue I would have made a custom hardtail. Therefore I opted to buy a bike with good components so later down the track I would be able to spend a minimal amount of money in order to get something even better and more individual, such as a 24 frame toy4 and change a few other parts around. I have to build my bikes on a budget!

Then don't read the thread? Or just go to work?
If this dude wants to post his ride up there because hes proud to own it, then let him. Your post was pointless and added nothing to this thread. Sure it might not be an OMFG jizz my pants Over the top custom bike but its his, and he has as much right to post his ride up.
I like your bike alot mate, I hope that you have a great time riding it and that it serves you well:D
P.S Its not totally stock remeber hes got the seat clap and sram x-9:p
May you have fun riding

a hardtail is not a hardtail unless it is singlespeed.

yeah makes alot of sence?? doesn't it? does it? who does? what? huh...?
a hardtail is not a hardtail unless it is singlespeed.
LOL, what do you mean mate? if you said "A hardtail will benifit you a lot more in the long run if you run it as a single speed and get rid of that wacky derailleur" then at least you are telling me why a hardtail is useless unless its a single speed. What about all the people that downhill with their hardtails? I think it would then be more of a case that the single speed hardtail would be a disadvantage!
Anyway i dont want to give you a full 101 lesson on posting, just try to give more reasoning, and people will appreciate it :D

a hardtail is not a hardtail unless it is singlespeed.
Is that true?

Is that true?
Yes, the rear derailleur has a spring in it thereby voiding the bike of hardtail status!
Nice bike by the way, i have always liked STP's.

very very nice bike there... loving the setup, such an improvement from the 05 stp's. the geometry is different eh...
would it trouble you to ask around how much one of these things will cost? i have no idea. cheers

Cheers mate, the bike retails for around $1800, but you are pretty sure to knock off at leats $100 from any lbs!. And the bike goes real hard, i've had no major issues with it, appart from a bit of chainslip, so if you get one, get a chainguide and get rid of the granny chain, or buy a new frame with horizontal dropouts and run a singlespeed! (or just run ss on the current frame with a chain tensioner...personally i hate the look of the chain tensioners so ill be keeping the gears!)
Keep riding :)

Dude nice bike bike i would definately look into getting a guide for it before i did anything else. And as said before there are many better pedals out there for a lot cheaper that teh 5050's. Nice bike none the less.

Internal bearings for the BB right?
And 6" rotor on the front?
I just got mine yesterday, farkin nice but its got the external bearings for the bb and 8" on the front.
1 thing I'm hating is the seat clamp, such an effort to undo
