There ia a major fire up around the Stawell-Ararat area. I just got back from a week up there on friday.
The western highway is completely blocked off, no traffic to or from Melbourne-Adelaide (unless they cut around it).
The Stawell Downhill track up in the Stawell area is apparently gone-burnt out. My cousin said it is completly gone in the area of the track, the Black Rangers.

Theres a story of it.
Anyone have there own info on some of the fires up there?

PS: fire at Bonnie Doon. 120 hectare gone, Grass fire.

Yeh there are some around Sydney, i dont know much about them but they are both pretty bad.
Since it started to rain at Stawell before luch time i think it has helped control the fire.

Fires came close to hitting us here at kariong but were lucky i guess.(central coast). All seems good here at the moment, its raining slightly. probably come through soon enough though.

The fires on the central coast got really close to houses at Umina and Woy Woy. Luckly the back burning paid off. Did anyone watch the news last night because these volunteer fireman parked their cars outside the firestation and went off to fight the fires and when they came back their cars had been burn't. They must have felf so bad.

The fire is really bad because they had to close the Pacific Highway and that stuffs everybody who lives in the central coast and works in sydney. Not sure if the train line was closed though:confused:
