I’m looking to buy a secondhand 2005 ironhorse Sunday team 19”

The owner has had the 5th element revalved and apparently had the
Bottom linkage plates replaced with new ones to alleviate
Shock/frame clearances issues

Was there any other changes that needs to be done
To the 2005 ironhorse sunday team 19"
Supplied to Australia to allieviate any inherit problems ?

Cheers

David

1)
Check the mounting shafts for the bike, the supplied ones are hollow, but IH aus should be able to fix you up with some solid ones.

2)
Check the bearings in the frame for the dw link (the lower link) They supplied standard bearings, but it SHOULD have had MAX type bearings, these are fairly easy to spot, they have orange shieldings instead of black and are purely balls, there is no retainer inside.

3)
Check the shock anyway, my "fixed" link still had to be filed to clear the shock properly.

Hrm, have a search for some of my other posts in other Sunday threads, i covered all the problems in one of those.

Thanks Shmity,

I found one of your old posts and i'm onto it

Bad shock tune - 5th element supplied shocks that were overdamped for the bike and made it feel like ass, with the new shock tune it feels much much much better, with a dhx, i think it would be perfect.

Bad bearings - Some of the bearings were not correct. Im on my second set of bearings from less than 20 rides.

Bad linkage - The tolerances on the DW-Link were out, causing it to rub on the shock body, replacements were simply machined down to stop the contact, even then it rubbed so i was advised to file it down by the distru.

Bad shock mounting hardware - The mounting pins/reducers shagged out very quickly, replacements seem to be holding up for now.
