Im looking at getting some new SPD shoes to use pretty much specifically for DH.

Does anyone have any good suggestions/recommendations, maybe that you're using and like?

Whats the chop with the Oakley ones? Any good.

Ps not a huge fan of boot style..but all suggestions appreciated..

Cheers...

I'd look for the Addidas Hematomas or the Oakleys. The Hematomas are cut higher but it doesn't interfere with pedalling, and they're noticeably stiffer on the bike than the Oakleys. On the other hand, the Oakleys are really comfortable but they aren't made very well ast all (i pulled the whole sole off the shoe when riding). After owning both I reckon that the Hematoma is my favourite, but both are pretty good.

i love my Hematoma's. best dh specific shoe i've used. problem is you can't get them in australia, only from OS.

the shimano DX shoes are pretty rad, and have a neat mud sheadding sole. combined with the DX pedals, they are great for DH. although the soles arent as rigid as other shoes, so the power down advantage is lost.

also, the M181L from shimano is the 06 version of the popular M180B, and ive used those for a year now and you cant go wrong at all. a tough shoe thats made from leather and has the toe spikes for the walk back up the hill. just be careful tho. the sole needs a quick smooth on the belt sander to get rid of a few mm of rubber. i had issues with it not mating with my pedals.

if you want even more strength, the M228 carbon shoe (same as the 181 just with more carbon) will be more than enough.
