So i snapped my chain, i tried taking off a link and relinking it with the old bolts, but they don't grip and slide out.
My question is, when i buy a new chain will it already be broken with fresh bolts ready to be pushed through with a chain breaker??
Can you buy new bolts?

You can buy little gold things that you put the bolt in first then oput over and they stop the bolt coming out again.

You can buy replacment pins for you cain wich are twice the length and work a treat but dont use to many in the one chain or it will get weaker.

the reason i didnt work is because when you break your chain you break the pin so you need to get a new joining pin. i have one of those reusable kmc joining ones which are about $8 i you see one get it

Bolt? heh? The reason the pins aren't gripping is because when you take a pin out you damage the pin's *mushroom* and it is not to be joined again, however, i've known people who have rejoined chains with the same damaged pin w/o any problems.

They aren't twice the length, you need to break off the mushroom bit after the main pin is positioned.
I also like the quick realease links, ei wipperman(9spd) and kmc(8spd). They are well shaped and shouldn't cause any drama to gear shifting.
