Hey All,
Apologises in advance if this has been posted before, I've had a look in the archives but can't find anything relevant. Have a slight issue with my juicy 5's (05 model), whenever I brake heavy I get a very loud howling noise from the rear end only similar to an old XC falcon according to some riding buddys. I'm using wavey rotors, the pads themselves have plenty of life left & I have cleaned both the pads & rotors extensively with a brake specific cleaning product. Is there something I'm missing? or am I better off running with a standard avid rotors. Its not affecting the performance but its bloody annoying.
Cheers in advance
Aaron

Most, if not all juicies with standard pads and rotors will do that. If it is that annoying, change to round rotors, and different pads. i am just putting up with it untill i need new pads though.

OK so what pads do we look into upgradeing to, the noise is crazy at a recent 12hr dust till dawn event I actually woke guys up when I was riding near their camp sites.

Try offsetting the position of your calipers a tiny bit. Worked for me. I only got the LOUD noise in the wet though

Swap the rotor to a round hayes sort (not the mudcutter/wavy) the one with the plain round outside, that fixes it, no need for new pads.

while the initial problem is a juicy specific one, brake and contact cleaners will make any brake howl like a banshee thats just had it wang caught in a door.

Went out & put a set of old avid rotors on (not waveys) & wouldn't you know it the noise has gone.
