At the moment im running a 6 pot on the front of my DH bike and it works a treat so im looking at getting one for the back aswell, problem is ive talked to a few people that have this set up and they reckon that it sucks and ive seen first hand how little power a 6pot on the back has. I was wondering if a M4 on the back would work better?

Maybe its just due to contamination of the pad compound, a piston leak, Hope's inconcictency in pad compunds, or one of their other numerous problems. (Grrrr I hate Hope UK oh so much, three emails within a month and still no reply grrrrrr)I would imagine that, if there were some way of attatching your current front brake (six pot) to the rear of your bike, you would find it probably worked more efficiently than it does on the front, due to less force being needed to lock the rear wheel than the front (if that makes any sense).
What I am trying to get at, is that just because a six-pot is on the rear, doesn't mean that the performance is reduced, I would say it was just some problem with that particular unit. In my honest opinion, I would just go for a four pot. Six pot is overkill in my opinion (when even Hope Mini's have a lot of bite). Mind you, the six-pots do look nice.

i have heard of 6pots feeling mushy. the main reason you would find that a rear brake is performing poorly (compared to the front) is the longer line.

I have Mono 8" 6ti's front and rear with Hope braided lines.
Not one complaint and never have had since installation. Awesome brakes. If they are set up properly they will perform without fault.
