ok,
Been doing a few DJ's lately on the old STP1, and i wanna get into street. I find: For one, every tom, dick, and harry have a fricken STP of some sort, and two, i want single speed.
Obviously single speeding is easier with horizontal drop-outs. Ive looked at the usual DJ/Street frames.. Last Raffnix, NS Streetlegal, Toy4. Ive also looked at the RPJ EasyBeast.
Are there any other frames that i havent listed that could do the job?
I also want to get shortish (380 - 420mm) chainstays, just to make it easier manualing and handling in the air, etc
Weight is another big thing..so i want to go CroMo if it's possible.
Because of the weight thing i wanna get reasonably light forks. Most guys have Pikes on their street/dj setup, am i wasting my time if i look at others?
Havent worked out wheelset or rear brake yet, so any suggestions would be appreciated!
There's obviously stuff ive missed out..but im just trying to work out main componentry atm.
Im just seeing what people think before working out finances..
so thanks for any suggestions/ideas.

check my bike, link in my pink sig below, thats the best street/dj setup, clearly coz i built it exactly how i wanted it, only thing i'd change is to a better rear hub. And i hate to get smart naz but i cant see where yours saves 2kg's on my 14.2kg beast.

well if you dont have a price limit and you want something pretty light i'll post what i would get out of all that
NS street legal
profile 14mm rear ss hub
profile 20mm front hub
Mavic 721 or 729 rims
profile cranks
kool chain

it was a trialsy setup and those xtr's weigh next to nothing.

If you plan on riding alot of street I would defenantly recomend something like a Suburban or Street legal. Both have wicked geometry and at a very reasonable price.
If weight is a big consideration then I would look towards the Suburban, as its a damn light cromo frame, but if you are planning on doing huge gaps or DJ's then the Streetlegal frame is bullet proof.
Pikes are the go for sure these days, purely because they are pretty light weight and allow you to run short travel - highly recomended.
Anyway here is a pic of my complete Suburban that is Sub 12kg's!

Goddamn, I have to figure out where all the weight is in my bike!
Its still 14.6kg , its a '03 P2 frame, '04 judy SL u-turn, MTX rims on shimano hubs, very light specialized fasttrak tyres. At the moment the only areas I can see to lose weight off it are the bars/stem, seat/post, and crankset. I know I can drop a bit over 500g by going to saint cranks (I have cro-mo felt ones now), and the bars/stem are currently azonic doublewall/shorty so I'm sure I can drop some weight going to a OS shorty deluxe and scandium B52 bar. I am getting a lighter seatpost than the shitty KALIN one, and a vanox rail SLR too.
ANYWAY, altogether thats still probably only going to drop maybe 1kg total, probably more like 800g. Where's the rest of the weight!? P3 frame is pretty light. All I can think of is that I'm running 9spd and an E13 guide, plus heavyish Diatech brakes.
Am I going to have to go SS and get lighter calipers (XTR maybe) ? can't be that much weight in those bits surely.

Yeh dude, you'd be so damn fuckn surprised how much weight you can save going singlespeed, your bike would easily get into the 13.7's, get rid of cassette, replaced by alumnium spacers, chainguide, derailleur, shifter, bam!
i've got my 05 p.2 down to 13kgs WITH a dice smo at the rear, after i get rid of that 950gram rim and get something around 500-600 its down in the 12kgs.

Hmm, ahh well I was avoiding SS'ing it, maybe I will have to at some stage, and I'll try for maybe a dura ace derailleur and lighter cassette for the race setup. But I guess I could try SS... will do so next week. Its not exactly heavy stuff at the moment though - 105 derailleur, 105 9spd cassette, XT shifter...but I guess once you add in the chainguide backplate/roller/top guide as well, extra length of chain etc.
