View Full Version : www.pandora.com
Type in a song or band that you like then the 'pandora music genome project' picks songs that it thinks you may like & streams them for you, & tells you name of artist & song & a picture of the album cover that song came from. 100% free if you register.
I have been using it for past 2 days & while there are a few misses generally it is really good.
Search terms i have used include 'Bar Religion (shock!) and 'from Autumn to Ashes' & they have given me bands such as Strung Out, Iggy Pop, Shadowsfall, boysetsfire, twentyinchburial, it dies today & Schoolyard heroes.
It says you gotta be in the US...
Well you don't. Just make up a 5 digit zip code.
I have spent the last almost 8 hours listening to metal/punk/hc/ambient electro, it is fantastic, especially if you don't have access to your music or any othe rmusic & you are going to be stuck at a computer all day. Also you may discover some new bands that could be worth checking out.

Yeah that Pandora thing is pretty neat, a workmate put me onto it a week or two ago and i have been having a listen pretty regularly. But i haven't been able to find any band called Bar Religion. Maybe it's a new pub band or something?? :p
Best part is that if you don't like a track, just click on the album picture and then click the 'i don't like it' and you'll go straight to the next one (and never have to hear that one again).
Worst part is that you can't skip through too many tracks in one sitting. You can get around that though by creating another station! :D

Awesome site. Am addicted already. Most of the stuff I like is not radio-friendly so this site is pretty damn helpful.
Is good to see which kind of music is truly original as the music it picks is nothing like band/artist you type in. So far on that list I have : They might be giants and Tom Waits
Thats a good site, another good one is launch.com, the same thing really. nice find.
Has anyone tried typing "emo" or "cut wrist" into the search field? ;)
Great find RCOH.
