My computer will play synopsis and rise but it won't play earthed 2 or 3. Does it not like the Earthed series, or is it something else? All the DVDs are Australian (i bought them here).

You may need to download codecs to play some dvds. What does it come up with?

Yeah, it goes all crazy-like and then it has the "this program is not responding" box.
Download a trial copy of Ulead DVD player, I had a similar prob with other applications trying to play dvd's and ulead seemed to do it all fine.

Windows media player is pathetic for DVDs. Sometimes it likes them, sometimes it doesnt. It seems to play burnt ones fine. Its just some originals it doesn't like.
Get PowerDVD.
Its great. Has played everything of mine so far
Get PowerDVD.
Definitely the right tool for the job, has a wide range of codecs builtin. Plays almost "everything" except for the rare formats like *.mkv.

What decoder are you using?
I use Windows Media Player 10 with NVIDIA PureVideo Decoder. Great picture and sound!
You can download a 30 day trial of this decoder HERE (http://www.nvidia.com/object/dvd_decoder.html).
I've never had one problem playing any DVD using NVIDIA PureVideo Decoder including the earthed series.
