In the bored state i am in haveing 4 free periods and lunch and recess in a row..i was trying to find the very first post on farkin but i found this!
just curious what it is?

i did search but did not find anything about it?

How come the last 10 or so pages in general discussion are old and newish threads, which are completely empty, but say there is posts in them? and they are all created in the early days of januray......... 1970  !

I thoguht they might all be posts from when the forum has gone down and the date out of whack, but there all posted really close together like 5-10 minute intervals?

any one? looking at scott. ;)

This has been covered before if I remember correctly. It is a default system date of some sort.

It's also the month I was born!

This is epoch time, more commonly called Unix time.
Most unix based systems internally calucalate any date as the number of seconds from a fixed point in time, known as the epoch. That fixed point in 00:00:00 on the 1st of January 1970.
Those posts were probably made when the servers didn't have their clocks set so they would have defaulted to 0 when they started up and ticked away through January 1970.
