Basically, post bands touring dates + details up in here. I will periodically update the top, and remove gigs past, and add newer ones. aso post up your tour rumours (only if reasonably good/not utter shit)

This thread survives only on your input. if you have dates, post them and I will add them. If I can be bothered.

whos going to overcranked?? i booked my tickets. should be a good day of bands. pretty hefty price for what it is though. but ah well. i guess its gotta start somewhere. i just came back from brisbane and seeing my gf and i also caught comeback kids 18+ show in brisbane and friggen loved it! dont know if there are any other fans out there but it was heaps sick. also heard the hatebreed tickets are going to be like 90-100 bucks or something crazy as well. i guess its too do with the other headliners on that one.

EDIT:

FOR TOWNSVILLE RESIDENTS::: check out www.myspace.com/tsvm for all our up and coming gigs and going ons (yeah yeah its myspace get over it, it works heaps good for networking bands, gigs and people)

Meh. I'm NOT emo. I DON'T hate life. i DON'T do any steriotypical Emo shit. I like the music and i couldn't care less what anyone else thinks.

Not all "punk" music is hawthorne heights slit slit etc etc.

I hardly even listen to it for the lyrics (which may sound weird?) i listen to it because it's good music. So sue me?

nup avenged encapsulate the meaning of 'sold out' they used to be a nice bunch of christian boys before they learnt how to sell records. ie. city of EVIL. i mean wtf. unless someone can point out the christian values in this cd im labeling them. and again. they have nothing on darkest hour. fully. listen to them especially song1 from their new cd.

Their website (http://www.kreator-terrorzone.de/site/index.php?s_id=3&lang=en) doesn´t confirm anything though :(

While I´m at it...there´s a 2 day festival/gig happening in Melbourne, Evil Invaders (http://blackmetal.net.au/evilinvaders/) - June 2nd and 3rd.
A killer line-up:

On another note, I wish I was in Germany on the 16th June...

There are rumors going round that AFI are commming out here sometime after the release of their new CD (Decemberist Underground - 06/06/06) because they missed the Big Day Out due to recording. Hopefully that's true...

And supposedly Atreyu are headlining TOC this year and it is comming back, possibly with Sense's Fail and Funeral (again)... Just rumors though, no matter how much I hope they're true...

Also, in case anyone isn't aware, the Triple J gig guide (http://triplej.yourevents.com.au/guide/index.cfm?tsp=220606125246) is a pretty good for all your biggish acts and heaps of local ones.

Madball Australian Tour

When it comes to the claims of who the “legends” of the hardcore scene really are, some prime factors need to be taken into consideration - namely: influence, longevity and reputation. MADBALL - a pummeling staple of New York Hardcore since the band’s inception in 1988 - is one of the few groups that can lay claim to achieving high marks in regards to all of the above, while also maintaining an undying spirit that, to many, represents the heart of what hardcore is all about. Supporting their latest release, Legacy, MADBALL are set to once again hit Australian shores this September, tickets go on sale July 13, check shows page for details.

19 September Rosemount Hotel, Perth
20 September Fowlers Live, Adelaide
21 September Corner Hotel, Melbourne
22 September Basement, Brisbane
23 September Manning Bar, Sydney
24 September Cambridge Hotel, Newcastle

TOUR RUMOUR

April 2007.

Got a pretty strong rumor about a OG/Solace tour of the Eastern states in 2007. Looks like the bands will have to pay their own way to get here, so no confirmation at this stage.

Support is likely to be Pod People.

If you like doom, stoner/biker metal etc, get yourself down to your record shop and buy records. The more records sold, the more chance there is of them getting here.

Were you at the same show as me? Or was that just your first Hilltops gig? The gig I saw at the Convention Centre last Saturday was fucking ordinary at best...that place is like an atmosphere vacuum and the sound was embarassingly bad. Decent gig but far from the best Hilltops show I've been to.

worse than hilltops at BDO 06? heaven forbid it was worse than the valley fiesta performance that year!

sound eh, tell me one good venue in brissy that has the acoustics to suit a loud rock/rap/whatever concert. Saw Blink 182 at boondal couple years ago, and seriously, acoustics sucked! The best sounding gigs I've been to would honestly have to be the small ones like the Assault Tour at the QUT Guild Bar, or the Every Time I Die tour at the basement. I'm going to Rise Against at the Arena and am yet to hear the acoustics from that venue. And I'm going to Taste of Chaos at god forbid boondal.

The sound system in Family will make you believe in God. Nothing in Brisbane comes close, though it's obviously not a suitable venue for rock/punk/hardcore gigs. I've seen several live bands/electronic acts at Family and every time, the sound has been impeccable.

The Tivoli theatre is another one that's usually pretty to very good while the Arena can fluctuate from brilliant to horrible, depending on who's supplying the rig.

The thing is, HTH should have sounded great, they had more than enough system for the venue and two decent size flown-arrays. Everything was just turned up too loud and the result was a mix that sounded like two guys shouting in your ear over some muffled beats / samples.

I've good reason to believe Tool will be in Australia during May, doing a "proper" tour of the country. Where'd this come from? Argh! Oh well. I guess I didn't look at the date on your original post. :p

I have heard TOOL are coming again. Sometime in December? Or so I have been told.

I looked on their official website and they haven't updated their tour dates that far yet. So I'm still waiting on an exact date before I book plane tickets.

However, if anyone knows more, please let us know about it!

Thanks.

One of the best live act's, energy, listen to the lyrics... they have a meaning, a very strong one. How does the design of the album cover determine weither the bad is decent or not, fucking stupid assumption. None of there album genre's are "Nu-Metal"???

Except other Nu-metal bands don't have Tom Morello on Guitar or a rhythm section that tight. (Brad & Tim?).

That being said, I think they have passed their prime. I imagine tix will be super expensive if there is a side show & I refuse to go to the BDO at homebush.

Rap + Metal =Nu-metal.

They haven't played live for what, 8-10 years? They did have energy but it smacks of a money making exercise.

Don't get me wrong, I am a fan, but I missed them when they toured here last & I don't think the next tour will be anything too special.

I'll agree with that.

The music was nothing special and the politics weren't any different to what a whole bunch of crust and grindcore bands were espousing 10- 15 years previously.

Megadeth isn't the band they used to be.

I saw them at the Enmore Theater back in 2000 or 2001.

Jimmy DeGrasso was on drums, Al Pitrelli was on guitar, Ellefson on bass and of course Mustaine on guitar/vocals.

I think that was their second best line up.

Now the only original member is Mustaine.

Err, no. I don't even like Megadeth that much, I think they were the weakest of the big three Bay Area thrash bands (Metallica, Megadeth, Exodus) although I'd far prefer to see them than Metallica these days

Look, just read wikipedia's list and actually take the time to listen to some of those bands. Many of them have nothing to do with either hardcore OR rap music.

Rapcore isn't a genre as far as I'm concerned. It's just New Metal.

Or are you some sort of Juggalo 4 Lyf?

Trust me, I'm old enough to pull stunts like saying "I was there" as is RCOH.

It was called rap metal at the time, and considered by most to be a cynical marketing ploy more than anything else.

Most of those bands in the wikipedia list don't even make the grade as rap metal or even funk metal.

There's a lot of HipHop acts, New Metal acts or just out and out pop rock acts or novelty bands.

That is no more proof that its a genre than a puddle on the ground is proof that someone pissed there.
