1650: with vertical dropouts
1900 with the horiz adjustable dropouts
small (mine) runs a 21TT, 69 ha with pikes set at 80mm, the frame in over all length from rear axle (15.7", slot ranges from 15.5 to about 16") up to centre of HT, is shorter than the last, but the slightly slacker ha pushes the front wheel away enough to barspin n x-up easily even with 180mm cranks, every orifice is faced or reamed, even the disc tabs, so settin it up is a breeze, not to mention the disc mount is always fixed DONE

sometimes i just with the STP'd snap! :D just kidding. nice frame Alex
had my first ride this arvo. sweet, alu is takin a while to get used to the stiffness again, but my god even though im runnin about 15.75" stays my god it still manuals easily, the slacker headangle 69 is takin a while to get used to but my god its sweet barspins and x-ups are no longer constrained by tyre vs foot incidents, and the weight is almost a kilo lighter than last, thats with the exact same build, it looks so hot iright nowwww

That has to be one of the cleanest looking Nicolais available, very nice :)
Just wondering though, what purpose do the elongated dropout slots serve? I've been paying alot of attention to different sliding dropout designs lately and this one intrigues me.

im still baffled, the non drive side has a really long dropout, but the drive side is just long enough to fit the 14mm bolt, the setup was the easiest ive ever done, the disc mount was perfectly spaced n faced, and took 3 mins to have the caliper aligned then after that chain tensioning was a breeze, and the 2 6mm bolts hold pretty damn tight.

Nevertheless, there's surely a reason for it, and one would expect nothing less than impeccable finishing and aligntment from such a nicely made bike!

Hey rik the purpose of the elongated drop outs is for the use of a rolhoff hub.
It is indeed anodized silver finish , but the logos are stickers as you can customize your own colour decals when you order.(60 colours, 3 anodization, and 3 camouflage colours and about 15 different decals to choose from).
Nicho
Ahh of course, that makes alot of sense. Having looked at nicolai.net again, all their frames have an elongated left dropout for a Rohloff hub to mount with the cable assembly plate aligning itself in the slot for, instead of having the arm bolt on to the chainstay like needed for usual aftermarket installation. Very clever.

I wonder if you can get them without the gusset on the side of the headtube? The rest of the frame is pure class, but somehow that gusset just looks kinda "welded up by the local engineering shop" stylee. All said it still looks very nice.
Edit: And where does one get Ti spokes from? Brand? rough price?

Thats pretty hot mate. Whats the geo like? Those stays look super short even at the longest setting.
I'm pritty sure the Geo is fully customizable to suit the rider (Although i am unsure if Naz could've been bothered to come up with his own geo. :P)
Speaking in the sence of customizable, Nicolai really do suit the rider, the frame and decal colours are fully customizable to what the rider wants.
no idea where from... but i think i read it on here somewhere that they retail around $12 each? Im open for corections though..
Naz if you read this again soon... how is the rear wheel holding up? Are the Ti spokes stronger than the normal style?
They are not $12 a spoke, Whoever told you that was obviously hitting the bong.
They are around $4 each for a high quality brand such as DT swiss (Although i am unsure if they still produce Ti?), Marwi and Wheelsmith just to name a few. (http://www.bti-usa.com/ imports Marwi, So you can contact the boys at http://www.balleracing.com/ and they can import anything from bti-usa.com, They're also really helpfull with price.;))
Ti spokes can usually be made to around the same strength as normal spokes, They need to be tightened a fair bit more though because the Ti stretches, They also have quite a bit of flex (Which can be seen in a good way, It provides a smoother ride as the spokes more or less soak up bumps...and it can also act as a form of preload for a bunny hop or something as such).

a few questions tho
weight of your last raffnix as compared to this bike, this one looks alot beefier- given that it is alloy compared to steel/cromo.
are ti spokes worth it (*approx 180 per wheel just on spokes!)

fare comment mate but if ya read my post it says i think alloy frames looks crap based on i think they are too beef and i dont like it, i didnt say one thing about the way a nicolai rides. I can see you like alloy bikes as you have owned a few awesomely specced ones but thats your own opinion.
as for johnny how is haz or i am meant to be able to tell how it rides from looking at it on a forum execpt for looking at the geo of the frame. Im sure when you post about a bike in this forum that is posted by someone you have never met, you look at the frame and components and give your opinion on what it looks like not what it rides like.
If you buy a new frame how are you going to know what it feels like before you put it together. Living in Tassie alot of the new frames coming out people down here have to have to take a gamble on because most of the time no one else owns one and you have no way of telling what its goign to ride like. Could be different where your from everyone proly has sick new frames and you can ride them all to see what they feel like and then buy the one you like best. But even then i bet you dont buy it purely on how it rides, you would want a good looking bike aswell.
