Every helmet is an improvement on the previous one, good stuff. The "mungus" text on the side looks sweet!

ye pretty sick!! the only thing i have against is... is that when you put goggles on.. the strap will cover up part of 'mungus' 's name... apart from that it looks pretty cool.. do you recon u could get a foto with the visor on?? cheers.

nah it only got cleared on wed and hugh left for buller thurs so i was like dont put the visor on so it completely cures, but i will get a shot when it gets bac, i know what you mean about the goggles but its pretty hard to design a good looking helmet around straight goggle lines.

um i use urethanes shauno, (standard car paint) i try and snake as much as i can from the panel beaters cause u dont need much. ppg and dupont run the best through the brush cheaper ones like standox and what not tend to spit sometimes, i use a iwata hpc+ and then dupont chromaclear 2 pac. im still learning heaps

I reckon you need somewhere more dust free for either spraying or curing, from those pics.
Interesting design...
As for designing around the strap, well, it depends on what the thrust of the design is to be. If its designed to look good on the shelf or tooling about with goggles off, full wrap graphics are fine. Personally on a race lid I think a well defined "channel" in the graphics for the strap doesn't go astray, not to mention clear, readable lettering and strongly defined graphics features.

What do you prime with? Just out of interest.
I've been using an aerosol VHT primer on my experiments in helmet painting , mainly designed for fibreglass, which is pretty mild on plastic and resin but gives an excellent finish to key into and good sandability. Its dark brown, but a mist layer of light grey primer, and a layer of pearl white and anything will go over the top nicely.
I'm interested to hear what others use.

wanna get me a booth floody?

um priming i use a dupont primer and hi fill and have just been messing around with a norglass marine etch primer on the visors, to see how they go. to be honest with you i really just wanna get back on the bike and i will stop spraying i only started as something to do till my wrist heals and its just getting out of control.

Ok, cool, I was a little worried about the effects of any primer with a strong etch or keying effect on a helmet, but I guess marine fibreglass ones..of course!

Apart from the ventilation aspect, I'd suspect a couple of bikeboxes could make a reasonable booth... However I personally find more dust gets in in the drying process. Mostly I paint model cars and small items, so I use a tupperware box, like you put cakes and slices in, which is dust free (effectively).

It looks cool in any case, its a job very well done.
