I live near epping but don't know of any freeride trails actually in north epping unless your taliking about the xc trails down near whale rock or browns waterhole.

I live around there. I haven't heard about this either. There are lots of trails in Peno, I don't know about freeriding though. But I plan to make some freeriding at Chello! Whenever I can be bothered...

I know of the tracks, but not the builders. If you do eventually meet the builders i suggest you remove them from the area (the trails, not the builders) as 1) they build in a national park and 2) the area is already not meant to be ridden. If i find more of these structures they will disappear!

The only trail I saw was leading to a large drop onto the fire trail, no construction or anything.
As for it being forbidden to ride in the area, this is highly untrue. The rules are that bikes are allowed on vehicle tracks only, which, with the way that the National Parks are flattening and concreting trails, means access to almost everywhere. Single trail is forbidden however.
I don't see why we aren't allowed to use this park for riding, the damage caused by other groups is far worse than mountain biking could ever manage, with destruction of trails, and the prevalence of weeds....
The old lady walkers are fun to bunnyhop though:cool:

Damien is all mickey mouse- i hear he got a brand new one.
I'm thinking of the trails behind whale rock (the ones with the ewok type stuff)- they were knocked down a while back (because they were built in the National Park). If you can find a better place go ahead, but any trail thats built illegally in the national park should (and will) be removed, by other concerned riders or park rangers. Its also a $30k fine too, so you're tempting fate.

Pennant Hills park has been my back yard for the past 30 years and I have been riding my bike down there for almost as long.
I have noticed many things going on down there over the years but I was able to ride the singletrack there right up until about three years ago with relative impunity. Since the fires going through the park a few years ago it seemed as if some people thought they had carte blanche to build anywhere they wanted. My favourite trail, the singletrack downhill from the park gate to down to the creek used to be excellent. I rode it every day on my way to work. Then stunts and 'north shore' type stuff kept popping up and the bushwalkers got the shits. The fact the increased traffic widened the track significantly didn't help either. Not long after that comes the NPWS with the big signs on all the decent singletrack banning riders.
I had gotten into an argument with a guy walking his dog in the park after I said hello to him. The guy started yelling at me for riding in the park, it got even worse after I told him I wasn't the one breaking the law. Back then the ranger sided with me, now both the dog walker and I would be up for heavy fines.
Then trails were cut into the bush between the model aeroplane field and the top of the concrete downhill. These and others on the other side of the track brought in the NPWS yet again. It seems the freeride craze and big stunt building had gotten all the wrong attention. I love riding like I'm sure all the guys who love hitting big stuff do too, unfortunately the increased riding in the park and the illegal builds have killed it. It's the law, and there are heavy fines so if you continue to ride you'll have to take it on the chin.
I'm afraid to say it guys but the good old days of riding Penno park are over. That is unless you like riding fire trail. Yawn.
Sorry for the rant guys but it shits me I cant ride where I have ridden all my life anymore.
