YouYangs is probably your best bet. There is two riding areas to suit your needs. Western Plantaion which is mostly "flat" although rather curvy is good for an easier paced ride. I use it as a training loop myself. There is some newer stuff I haven't yet seen, which is apprently quiet good.
The entrance is via Sandy Creek Road
Stockyards is a lot more technical- alot more ruged and alot of fun. Quiet rocky, with loads of climbs and desents. Alot of new trails and other work afround here very swet riding.
Entrance is via Drysdales Road (botem car park) or Great Circle Drive (Top car park)
Check out... http://www.parkweb.vic.gov.au/resources/05_0513.pdf for directions.

hey thanks.
i will be there with bells on tomorrow morning followed by drinking in the arvo. :D i'm with the missus and she is more keen than me so i guess we will be hitting both areas. do they link up or is it a pack up and drive between?

I guess you could make them link up. I generally start at Western Plantation until I get sick of it then ride around Great Circle Drive to the Stockyards. It's a fair hike, about 7kms I believe, with a fair bit of climbing.
I hope you guys have fun- it rained a bit tonite though it sounds like it's stopped now so the courses should be nice in the morning. Not too much dust :)

Don't forget you have to return too the car so I would pack up for the transition.

that all went well. fun to ride on something other than sandstone for a change. the geelong mtb club track fairies are doing some good stuff.(especially at the stockyard area)
i think i might try it under lights this week sometime.:)
thanks for the pointers.

I believe the GMBC does a night ride down there on Friday nights. Check out the forums at www.gmbc.com.au (http://www.gmbc.com.au) to find out which area they will be riding at this week if your interested. :)
