OK, time to upgrade one XC bike... very well ridden, well loved and now very worn out!!!

Currently has a Shimano Deore setup, but after having SRAM on another bike, think that is the way to go...

What needs to be changed???

Derailleur only, or cassette as well... (I think my bike has Deore LX derailleur and SRAM cassette!!!) Obviously if the cassette is worn, it has to go anyway.

Shifters have to be changed anyway due to upgrading to hydro discs (Juicy 5's) What shifters normally go with SRAM gear?

I did a search, but just came up with the normal one brand V's the other arguments... not details.

Is X.7 a reasonable level??? Not too $$$ but not too flimsy???

I've ridden the X7 for a while and find it just fine! You need the SRAM shifter with SRAM derailleurs (who cares how the word is spelt properly!) but I'm still running my Shimano cassette with it and all's good.

what you need is a sram shifter (x7, x9 x0) with a sram rear mech

i would personaly go the x.9 the quality is alot better than x.7 espically for the rear mech. for the shifter you probly could get away with the x.7.

X7 is awesome, is not exspensive and is a strong product. look at torpedo for stores to get it!

another option which i ran for quite a while was an X9 derailleur and X7 shifter no difference between the two bar the name.

good luck
