hey i was just wondering if the 2003 dirt jumper 3's cracked at the crown. If they do is it safe to ride with them cracked?
I am thinking of getting this fork.

tell the guy you will give him 50-100 bucks more if he replaces the crown for you depending on condition of the rest of the fork. If not, www.chainreactioncycles.com ;) DJIII for less than $400
then buy them :)

stpzeroridah what youre talking about? $50 - 100 to replce the crown, steerer and stanchion? I got mine replaced with 05 ones and it was $300. And no before you ask you cannot just buy a new crown.

Ok my bad, i meant it maybe safe to ride them for a short while in the interval of getting new forks or getting them repaired depending on the size of the crack if its only tiny although you would hae to keep a close eye on it and if it got larger.

I know the crown, steerer and stanchions are one peice mate. (well the steerer is pressed into the crown but you cant get it out...06 Marz is a different story though..
I bent the steerer on my old forks and went through the same thing this fellow is. Im just saying, if this dude wants to sell his forks, i doubt many people will buy them if the crown is cracked badly so he might want to consider getting the uppers changed. Dont make the buyer spend the whole amount, make him pay about half

Some, not all, of the 03 DJ's did crack at the underside of the crown. The only way to fix is to replace the crown/staunchion/steerer assembly.

It is definately not a good idea to ride on any peice of equipment that is cracked for your own safety.
