Whats the difference between Freeride and down hill bikes and the tracks.

FR bike have slacker angles and are generally less agressive in the personal set up too.
they are usually also overbuilt and heavy, where-as purebred race bikes are as light as possible and, budget providing, are even lighter than they should be (IE people saving pounds by using parts that are gonna fuck out pretty easily but replace them when they do).
DH bikes generally use different ratios aswell (roadie cassetes are common place among other things).

actually DH race bikes have slacker geo then their freeride counterparts

actually they dont, usually steeper head angles and short stays are on DH bikes

Sorry gotta disagree with ya, slacker (65-66 deg) head angles for downhill, makes them more stable at speed. also downhillers are usally a bit lower in bottom bracket height to keep the weight low in the bike.

i think you should checkout the geo numbers from
manufacturers like
Ironhorse Sunday vs 7point
Norco VPS DH vs Shore
You want a slacked head angle on a dh bike since its more stable at speed,
whereas freeride bikes have steeper geo because youre more likely to do a bit of climbing on them which makes it easier. Now days in the longer travel there isnt that much difference but DH bikes are slacker and have a lower BB.

lower BB is a given
I like a steeper angle cause i like control over stability.
anyway I'm gonna stand by my original statement... you know.. just cause I can
it all comes down to personal preference

I doubt you will find many FR bikes with slacker head angles than DH rigs. Downhill bikes wil almost always have a slacker headangle.

DH:
slacker angles - stability at speed, seated rider further back.
lower bb - lower centre of gravity.
longer wheelbase - stability at speed.
FR:
steeper angles - better low-speed manouverability, better seated pedalling position.
higer bb - to clear obstacles.
shorter wheelbase - better tight manouverability.
shorter TT - more upright position, easier to pop the front wheel.
shorter stays - easier to pop the front wheel.
These are just generalisations. There's a fair bit of overlap.

I just refuse to admit that I was wrong:o

the difference between them is downhill tracks are less jumps less drops and hardly no ladders freeriding has to do with balance going along skinnys and jumping onto extreaml thin treetrunks.
