With that build kit theres no frame that would build to a light bike- you've got some of the heaviest forks and rims out there. Compared to these the CR8 is lightweight.

welcome to farkin,

firstly those smo rims are heavy as all buggery and dj 3's arent that bad better. sounds like a fairly solid unit.

frame wise- what are you riding mostly? dj, Fr, street,dh and how smooth are you? and what weight range are you in? etc. i think a few guys on here have riden the cr8's and being cromo oly their pretty damn strong. maybe look into your forks and wheelset before worrying about the frame if the wieght is a major concern.

frames wise, its all pretty much about how much your willing to spend.

The cr8 isnt that heavy, I built mine up with a lighter fork and wheelset and I find it quite light, its the build as much as the frame that makes things heavy.

Off topic I know but would a cr8 tolerate dual crown forks?

You're on the wrong track mate, the CR8 frame is fairly respectable in weight (though not what you'd term light). DJ3s and SMOs ARE however really heavy - you could easily drop a kilo or so in the forks and another 600g or so in the wheelset, a sizeable saving.

Do you like the way the CR8 rides? they're a bit love it/hate it, some people take issue with the geometry... But if you like it, keep it and upgrade the parts, when the frame reaches its use by date, get something more flashy.
Don't forget the CR8 is out of the same factory as the .243s, the Keewee HTs, Azonic metalhead etc...
