Howdy,
I've been fiddling around with the amount of travel on my Tora 318 Solo Airs.
Around a month back the forks were converted from 4inches to 5inches by removing the 3cm long *all travel* spacer. That was a problem free conversion.
Today, I've changed it back to 4inches by putting the same spacer (sits between the air piston and bottom out bumper), but the forks clunked at the initial part of the travel, they've always had a bit of play/clunk from the initial part of the travel and as said in the sram website it is when the piston separates the neg and pos chamber when the forks compress. But now the sound is pretty damn loud.
So then i disasembled the air piston leg again, checked for stuffed seals, circlips, etc. Checked the arangement of the whole assembly and couldn't work out what was wrong. I repress all the parts into the air tube again, and it worked! The forks didn't clunk.....only till after a few hours of riding time.
They "reclunked" again. It only happens between the point when the fork's are at the static position (all the way up no compression) and when you compress.
If the forks are already sitting into the travel by about 5mm then it doesn't clunk when further compressed.
So whats the go?
