A complete bike for 1300 or frame only?? $1300 isnt going to give you much choice of a complete bike, but for frame/shock only, you could get whatever you want. If you're keen on the DHR208, check around the swingarm and linkage for evidence of cracking. They are a tough bike but do have weaknesses in the rear end. Dont buy a bike that has been cracked and repaired, they are never as strong and most of the time they'll crack again, and again and again and again.
Look for old bikes around the race scene and take note at what there are alot of, cos usually that'll indicate they'll hold up over time.
KEEP SAVING ! only advise. dont buy shit because you will never re-sell. save enough to buy somthing decent that you will not be out-riding in 2 months. be sure of what you want dont just buy cause its cheap or its a good deal cause you will end up being fucked when that good deal isnt what you want in a months time. good luck.

so what bikes do you recommend
I recommend you get a second hand bike, there are plenty of bargains to be had in the farkin trading section.
Maybe a Bullit would be nice?

If your lookin at frame only then the second hand world is your oyster. Giant DH, Iron Horse SGS, Avanti D8, GT DHi etc etc
If your looking at a complete bike then you will be pushing your luck in a big way. Occasionally someone just gives up on the sport and sells up cheap but that is pretty rare.

Just keep looking through the For Sale section and do a search.

there are plenty of good 2nd hand frames about, but there is alot of shit aswell. I've seen alot of cracked GT's but havent seen cracked Giants. Some bikes hold up, some don't. Personally, i'd recommend Balfa, if you can find one. They are tough as, cheap (2nd hand) and are an awesome DH bike. Whatever you get, just make sure you check out the welds and check for bikes that have been resprayed cos usually it's because it's been "repaired"
good luck
