Hi guys,
Anyone here wear glasses and have prescription inserts for their goggles? How much did they cost ya? Are they worth it?

Just got told by the optho this morning I can't wear soft contact lenses again, and at least 12 months before I can even *try* hard lenses.

Cheers,
Benno

Never heard of prescription inserts for goggles, although you can get prescription inserts for sunnies like the Rudy Project Ekynox.

You can get goggles that are specifically designed to go over glasses, like Oakley L frames or Smith Ortegas (I think it's the Ortegas)

I know someone who has prescription goggles for skiing.

Send me a PM if you want some details and I will pass your message onto him, then he can reply.

pharcyde how's your peripheral vision with those? They kinda look like the cover only the most central part of the visual field..

Maybe, but they are bigger then a regular sized glasses lense, you'd be no worse off sight wise then with your regular glasses:) .

i wear glasses underneath my goggles.

I have Smith Fuel's and wear a Giro Mad Maxx II

comfy as. still get all the vision needed.

also visit

www.zealoptics.co.uk and follow the links to the "RX insert"

these guys have a goggle insert that fits into their goggles and it costs around $40 (not including lenses, your optician makes these up)

I too wear my glasses under the goggles and find it works a treat. I used to wear contacts riding but when the last pair of dispoable ran out a year ago I haven't yet got round to replacing them and the glasses seem to be working fine.

I just have to take care they don't fog up after each run.

The goggles are some Scott cheapies..

a mate of mine has prescription diving and ski masks, so they can be done if you have the cash. probably easier than having to either wear goggles and inserts, or just little glasses

Im interetsed to know why you can't use soft contacts. I assume you were using them and now can't? I ask because i use soft contacts myself.

Thanks.

Oh that sucks! I couldn't live without my soft contacts!

"contact lens intolerance"

apparently the soft ones are more immunogenic (provoke more of a reaction) than the hard ones.
