Hey all,
Im just wondering who at Farkin is a member of the UNSW cycling society, as im thinking of joining.
If you are a member, whats the deal - is it mostly mtb, road, xc???
Is the society actually worth joining?
Cheers,
Ben

I didn't join because it was plugged to me as the lycra wearing carbon mounted elite roadie society. That was a couple of years ago though.
UNSW MTB club... DH races on uniwalk (stairs or natural course), trials comps, cat and mouse with security... Bring it on.

OK This is sweet I was going to start an UNSW MTB Club so if you guys want to help this get going with me it would be great. I have a website lined up and if that falls through then we can get one from the Uni, I have looked into it and it should be good.

Cat and mouse with security is good fun, right through the Scientia flat chat they don't like that:p But if there is anyone else out there PM me or post here and I'll get one started I have already looked into it and we just need people, I live on campus so its easy for me to get it going.

Ah my fat-tired friends, its time to show these lycra-clad roadies a thing or two about REAL riding!!!
Im extremely keen to start a specific mtb only club - i have seen lots of dudes walking arount with Balfa, Shimano and Intense tee's so theres bound to be a bunch (out of 50,000) of keen people. Im also thinking about uni games...

I was thinking the other day - a race from the very top of the uni to the main gates! How sweet would that be - a time trial kinda thing bustin-off all those steps :D

yeah i might be in.
although i live ages from uni, i've wanted to do a run or two from top campus (outside main library enterance) to bus stops on anzac. would be sick fun if you did it 4X-style - all goin at once!
but yeah if there is a club we could get funding to get drunk! sweet. (or maybe ride a bit too)

No worries, I live on the Northern Beaches too - pretty far away, but this shouldnt stop us from organising a community within the uni. Im just basically looking for another reason to mtb, and other uni's seem to have a mtb society, and theres no reason why UNSW couldnt have one.
