What a great track - not a dirt jump in sight, just a pallet ramp-over a log which was launchable, and 2 rock drop offs.... and speaking of rocks, probably close to 40% of the track was rocks and multiple lines depending on which way you got bounced. This track required required up front speed on the first section, the ability to carry speed though sections otherwise you might have to have a scoot to get through, and then techy skills to pick your way through the rocks and boulders, and then sprint pedal over the creek and on the grass to finish. (None of which I have by the way :-) )
Five runs, four offs, arm pump, grazes and a suspected broken toe - unreal day.

great crowd of people..
only downside was the annoying people on mtbdirt that cant take a joke about what i had on my back... i didn;t know what it said, how can i it was put on my back..... as far as i knew it was going to say i love men.... it was a bet from illinbah that i lost and owed to jack from FTR.... everyone laughed had a good time... i apologise from me and jack for offending anyone and if in future i lose any bets, i will be sure to get someone to check my back before i go up on podium if i do again:P
thankyou and goodnight...
see ya'll at illinbah with my BB height lowered from 16 inches to 13.1

sonix mate, i dont blame you, it was all just a joke that a few oldies could not handle, maybe the black is the reason why. Im just pissed they are all like calling young riders squids. Most young riders are posting better times then they are. They say they are holing the sport back from big sponsers and other things, sif. They just cant think of anything else to blame it all on.
I can see why people are saying things about it. Im sure it wont happen again.

You have no idea at all dude....the squids need to race for a few years before they can make any comment at all. A lot of us have been racing DH since before these kids were in primary school and we sure dont want our sport ruined by idiots.
Big Dan, That's great that you have been racing since before these kids were born. Now's the time to move over and let these kids take the throne. These kids are doing quicker times than you were at their age and they are our future. Just because of a couple of idiots, you don't need to class all the kids as "Squids". Most of these kids are already taking our sport into the future like James Maltman for example.
I also have to say that it's sad when the only photos taken are of the elite men. These guys have had millions of pics already and the poor U/15, U/17, always miss out. We want to keep our kids involved with this sport and i know how proud my son is when he sees a photo of himself. Come on all you Photographer's out there? why not include more of the next generation as well.

sure...i would love for that to happen and most of them are doing great BUT...there are some idiots who ruin it for the rest. Im stoked there are so many kids into it now as when i started out it was pretty hard to afford good bikes.

Looks like the "squids" need to realise that the "oldies" are what made the sport what it is today.
Nice pics, looks like a fun track ey!

You my friend sound like a soccer mum. When we were their age we were on fully rigid bikes that we bought ourselves without the support of M and D racing.
Look, most of the young fellows are cool, only a couple of clowns to wreck it for others. Pity that they keep saying sorry and then bringing it back up again. We had let it lie.
The reason the Elite Guys get most of the pics is because these are the guys we have been riding with for the last ten years or have watched come up through the ranks. I took 200 pics on the weekend and if I didn't get any of your son then maybe it is because he looked like a kook when he went past me?????
Anywho, some good pics there Mugger. Love the ones of the singlet huckers.

hahahahah this is gettin very funny!!!
what the hell does race times have to do with anything? All i asked is for a small group of the young guys (yep the squids, get used to the name its like grommets in surfing ) to think about their actions instead of being tools.
99 percent of the kids are great, heck i ride with a lot of them.
And... if you want to look at times for some strange reason well i think the u/19 times should be quicker than the vets dont you?
This sport is growing a
Nah, only a squid that hasn't been around for long would think it is still growing in Queensland.
Less numbers at races, No real State series where WE ALL travel up and down the coast to attend races. No big corporate (outside of cycling) sponsers. Downhill growing, Nah pretty much the same level it has been for a few years now.
Yet we still produce so many awesome riders (Like CK, Hannah, Maltman, Darren P, A-dog Eves, Farkin's own Jared, just to name a few) just amazing.

Actually Andy, I am a soccer Mum. My son played soccer for Queensland and 10 months ago he decided he wanted to do Mountain Biking instead. You seem more like a kid to me than the ones that are upsetting you on the DH track. You took 200 pics of your ego I think. My son came 2nd on the weekend in the Under 17's (He just turned 14 years old). That was his first race back after breaking his collerbone in Hobart and then breaking his hand at Theadbo Nationals. I realised you wouldn't give a shit about his injuries but it sure would of been nice if you could of got past the gooky look on his face and given the kid a bit of a lift by taking a photo of him. I placed a video of the day on this website and I bet I still filmed you even with your gooky face and your fat ego.:D

Ah ffs, no one can be happy.
Jesus christ, so much anger over some simple fucking issues.
Who the fuck cares if this person beat this person cause the person that was beaten has been racing for longer therefore he or she sucks.
God damn, its a picture thread not some bitch and slap thread.
I bloody hope the next race pic thread dosn't get this stuff in it, its just mountain biking not some political discussion.

Nah I dont mind, interesting anger came out of it.... Wonder how the "oldies" will go against the "inexperianced" at illinbah.
At least it is helping to make me want to get another DH rig, and stop all this XC'ing.

Still not really sure how this became oldies vs kids...all this came from a simple observation that a young rider had a racist remark plastered all over him on the podium and in doing so did not represent the sport very well. If it was an old rider i would think the same.
This is not an old vs young issue (and certianly has nothing to do with race times and photos although that was pretty funny for a while) it is however a wake up call to the future of the sport.
I suggest we move on. The person in question has already apologised and actually has shown more brains than others.
end of rant.
