The 224 comes standard with a 450 x 3 spring on a DHX5.0.
Approx what rate spring would be the go for say a 80 kg, 90 kg or 100kg rider ?

Thanks in advance

Cheers

I think that 450 should be pretty good for anyone around 100kg. If you're 100-120 run a 500.

borrow a 500 and give it a go and see what setup you like the best

thats my 2c

I'm about 83kg and run the standard 450 in my 223 with fox DHX. It feels good to me, I'd like to try a 400 though.

I have mucked around trying to get the right sag levels on my 224 and found that for my weight (90kg) that a 400x3 is sweet. I was just short of the sag I was after with no preload on the stock 450 so I went for the 400 and was really happy with the results. I have seen lighter guys (70-80kgs) at races running a 350 and they are happy as well.

Thanks everyone for your help

dl79, I chucked your weight on the spring calcutor below
said you needed a 450, but like you said no preload adjustment,
so the 400 would give you preload adjustment
so at least the spring calculator is sounding in the right order

A guy on Ridemonkey put me onto this
if anyone is interested
check out the DHX spring calculator on here
