Yeeees, I know this is a parts Q but this is a very XC fork and I don't need to know that "it sooo suxxor for da huxxor";)
Anyhoo, who's riding one, in particular the Platinum with the ominously named "snap valve"?:)

Thier nice and light and stiff too with new awesome look and new type of SPV system. I had the old SPV system on my 2004 Minute 2 and this year is much better as they say it would.
I tried both travel 80mm & 100mm and can't tell the difference between the travel, though 80mm is nicer and slightly lighter than 100mm but not much. I've use the R7 for 6 months now for trail & XC race & Enduro 6/8/12/24hrs and I'm happy with the fork. The future of suspension is getting better and better, bring it on!

i'll pretty much mimic the above comments - had it for 6 months and used for xc and enduro racing. really can't complain, plenty stiff - spv works well enough, it's only out of the saddle sprints that get it bobbing and the weight is exceptional. 100mm travel and 30mm stanchions at 1485 grams with uncut steerer (1447grams with 193mm) nothing else is within 100 grams. no problems as yet either.

Minute forks are use for trail & aggressive XC, though I have seen Minute forks at the races and kick arse. The minute weights more than R7 by 300-400gs give or take on which minute models.
Manitou R7 replaced the Manitou Skareb fork. See www.answerproducts.com for more details.

a reba is 32mm stanchions, an r7 is 30mm stanchions - you decided how stiff you want them. my r7 is plenty stiff but i don't really have issues with my old skareb or sid's that i've used. i did notice an increase in the ability to just point and shoot with the r7 though, wether that was the extra 20mm travel or the extra stiffness i don't know.
a reba world cup with the poploc lever and cable is 1596 grams with a 200mm steerer, the r7 100mm platinum is 1451 grams with a 200mm steerer. so how important is weight to you. (add 50 grams for the reba team, 90 grams for the reba race).
a reba world cup retails for 2000 (team ~ 1300, race ~ 1000), an r7 platinum retails for 1000 - how much money do you have.
i really can't complain about anything with my r7, there are two reasons i'd go to a reba, they look so damn cool (world cup model) or if i was over about 80/85kg.
and yes, the r7 is the replacement for the skareb.
