I was wondering what peoples advice and opinons for a street/dirt bike would be. I want it to have a low center of gravity and easily manouberable beneeth the rider. Price range is anyhing that is quality and under $1200 and second hand bikes are also an option. I was thinking a Norco 125, Norco Ryde or a Giant STP

Do you want gears or not? if you are going to be doing mostly dj, i would get the norco 250 without thinking twice!! the ryde and 125 are sweet as well otherwise the stp range is great value. hope this helps you out.

I'll make this easy for you.

You WILL buy a bike with SS and WILL have 26" rims there sloved two fo your problems and you WILL also have 3-4" of Travel.

So now all you have to do is find a bike thats in your price range and you like the look of.

Buy a komodo, the 1, 2 or 3.0 are all pretty good and not too expensive and they arent that well known so they arent always stocked by many shops but if youn find one get iT!!! The frame gemotry is mad because i hit park and street with it and bump the forks to 150 and go do some downhill..

ill make it easy for all of you.

do what i did.
i baught this http://forums.farkin.net/showthread.php?t=54905

it made me what i am, and now i know where i want my riding to go.
im not just using this as a way to advertise my bike, this is general advice, buy a indestrictible do it all bike, learn about all the different styles of riding and how each of them work on one of these style bikes.
dont just spend all of your money on a dirt jump bike then realise you love downhill, (because i guarantee, you will love it) and not be able to afford to get into that side of the sport.

take this advice and in a year or so, you will thank me for it.
if you dont take it, youll be kicking yourself and wishing you had listened to that random other kid on that mountain biking thingo on the computer.

Iv actually been working on what the previous guy said and got a all round bike, but this was way back in the day. And I have now decided to get a DH bike and race, but with the leftover from selling my current bike, get a DJ or Street specific bike as I love that too, but no XC for me. Ill leave that to the weight weenies :) Cheers

The Norco 250 destroys all of the bikes peviously mentioned (except the Agent). The 250 is specced with Snafu cranks, Dirt Jumper 3's, Snafu stem, DMR V8 pedals and MTX wheelset. Oh..... and did I mention chromo.

Get it, chuck on a Saint/Juicy/Hope rear brake (or front and rear if that's your thing) and your set.

3 words for you mate specialized P series.

Quality components, awsome as paint job and they don't weigh much at all.
They are a bit pricey but overall they are worth it.
P1 around 1200
P2 around 1600
Rich Boy P3 around 2800 i think
