We here at Samaria Mountain Bike Promotions are teaming up with Park Orchards BMX Club to put on a MTB 4X event so you can all come out and have a great day of racing!
This is the first event of this kind in Melbourne. We are modifying the track to suit MTB's. Changing the gate to suit MTB'ers. Don't get us wrong, this is NOT a BMX race that mtbs are invited too. This is a true 4X event for MTB's only! The rules are simple. Must ride a MTB and wear a full face helmet. No exceptions! (check flyer for details on bike rules. If you don't have a full face helmet contact us and we might be able to find you a loaner)
There will be a full canteen running with everything from hot food to drinks to chocolate bars. There will be music going, prizes, St Johns First aid, race support tents, and much more. All this for only $15 entry!!
There are some great sponsors jumping on board to support 4X racing in Vic and without their support these events couldn't happen. The great guys at XXIV are hooking us up with products to give away. Bike Now are also supplying products as well as having full race support tent setup on the day to help you all out if you have any bike troubles.
Being so close to home I will expect to see everyone there!
For the more details pop over to www.smbp.com.au (http://www.smbp.com.au) and download the flyer!
Cheers,
Sam Steinlauf

Bit of an update:
Endo Imports are showing their support for racing by hooking us up with some sweet products from Spy to give away.
If that wasn't already enough The lads at Black Phoenix Films are giving us a great selection of sweet dvd's too!
Make sure you all support the companies that actually put back into our sport!

sounds good, few questions. i read the flyer but am unsure as to what the specs are for wheel sizing? are you allowed to race with 24' wheels(f+r), or what if you have 24/26" set-up?i assume also that you do not need gears, so single speed is in. are these requirements the same in all catagories, or will single speed/wheel size be split from the others?(i.e all single speeders go to one side, and all gears go to other?)
cheers hopefull be a top event with more to come!

You must have at least 1 26" wheel. This is to stop people from racing 24" crusiers. So yes, a 24-26" setup is all good. Singlespeeds are fine to race. They will not race in a seperate class. All the classes will use the same rules.

fair playing ground then... lol
Most BMX tracks i've been to wont let you race unless you have long sleeves and pants and padding on your bike. Do we need any of this stuff for the race on sunday?

Because this race is being held under MTBA rules you don't have to wear long sleves/pants... Although, BMX clubs do have those rules for a reason. If I was going to crash on a BMX track I know I would want to be wearing log sleeves/pants thats for sure. But its upto you which way you go.

2 days to go, pretty much sorted out the prize pool. Some great stuff up for grabs so make sure you come down. Fox kits, gloves, spy goggles, dvds and more.
We are also running a draw on the day giving away 2 Gamut chain devices, everyone who enters is automatically entered.
Gotta be in it to win it, we will see you there!
Cheers,
Ken

Haha they might be pro BMXers and all, but they have to ride mountain bikes. Riding a light weight cruiser or 20" is alot different to hammering around on an MTB.
Whats the big deal with the BMX and MTB deal anyway? Show those suckers up!

I just got back from the track just now.. Its great fun. I was riding my dh bike and even riding that big heavy thing I still had a ball. The track is great fun on a mountain bike.
