i'm the same height as you and i ride a medium 02 bighit. never had any probs. it all depends on make and model. my large norco bigfoot actually sits lower than the bighit. best bet is to try different bikes and get what feels comfortable.

As this dude said best to try different bikes. I am 193cm and rode large AC1 a large hardtail raceline and now ride large ironhorse sgs and a medium hardtail. So all depends on what is comfortable.

every manufacturer has a different idea on what shape people should be.

the "frame size" doesn't really tell you how long the bike is from the seat to the bars. So it's important for a guy your size to understand Effictive Top tube measurements (Eff TT), some times called Horizontal TT.

Eff TT is the distance from the center of the steerer tube horizontaly back to the center of the seat post.

For example Giant make a 23" bike which has a 24.5" Eff Top tube length . Thats a pretty ideal length for me at 6'2
The Norco I ride is the same style of bike and also has a 24.5 Eff TT except it's only an 18", so i can dismount forwards and keep my manhood.

I can tell you now not to bother with Giant, Scott or Ionhorse, all three companies have really short top tubes and you'll have to ride a massive frame to get enough reach.

Kona, Norco and Orbea are three companies that come to mind that have really long top tubes and are good for tall/lanky riders
