Recently my Vanilla RC shock started making a sucking noise when it is rebounding. This only seems to happen after heavy impacts, mainly on drops over 4 or so feet, it seems fine for normal trail riding. Just wondering if anyone out there has come across this before & knows what may be going on. Thanks in advance.

id say you have shagged a seal or something on the inside

The sucking noise you are refering to, sounds like the rebound dampening. No it's not broken, its just the way it works. I've owned the same shock and it did the same thing on the rebound after a heavy landing. Marzocchi Super T's also make this noise on the rebound.
The fact that you have only recently been getting this sucking noise, may be because you have increased the amount of rebound (ie; slowed it down), or started to go a bit bigger than normal driving your shock futher into its stroke?
If you are still unsure, take it to your LBS and get them to check it over.
Hope I've been of some help.

sounds like either bubbles in resvoir or theres air passing through the shaft and the seal?
I've had both an R and RC do that, as well as SuperT and Shiver. I've never thought it was something unusual
