Bolt one on. 8" rotors will fit in case you're wondering. You will need:
-Complete brake (lever, caliper and some sort of line connecting the 2. You can go cable or hydro)
- Rotor and bolts
- Either 6" or 8" IS rear adapter

Hayes HFX9's are a dime a dozen, you should be able to pick some up 2nd hand for ~$250 a pair. Check the for sale forums.

Does the acid have disc mounts would be the first obvious question. Correct me if im wrong but this would depend on the year of the frame.

The 2003 ones do.

As seen here.

seems like mine is a 2004 model, going by the UK website anyway, probably of by a year or two.

So I'm guessing his one does.

As for the brakes,

A price range of what you want to pay would help people suggest some brakes for you.

I would have to agree with johnny_boy though, Hayes HFX9 if you don't have alot of money to spend. They are a good braking system for the price, mines lasted me a fair while. There are heaps around on farkin and also ebay.

(quick search of ebay)

What about the hubs? Do they have the 6 holes to mount a disk?
If you've got less money to spend, maybe go with a good mechanical disk brake. You won't need to buy a new lever.

Sorry, forgot to mention that- You will need disc hubs. If they are the stock wheels that came with the bike, you most likely won't have them. Look and see if there are 6 threaded holes on the left hand side of the hub (looking towards front of bike).

officialy the "noobest" question ever, what exactly should i be looking for, like exactly, if i were to post up wanted add, what details would be in it? i dont mean like location and all that crap, i mean like the disc brake details themselves+hub details?

Complete disc brake set, front and back.

Levers, cables, calipers, rotors, all of the bolts etc.

One for each end.

What ones you want is up to you. (eg. mechanical, hyrdo etc.)

As for the wheels, any wheel set that is disc compatible. I'm taking a guess here by saying both of your wheels are quickrelease?

Once again, what you want is up to you.

That should be all you need to say really.
