Are you talking about the single crown or tripple clamp?

IMO this is a stupid thread as of course the forks are going to be good for free riding 2O3mm top of the line i dont think you will be pushing them to the limit or anything.

^^^ I've gotta back up Big Drop Killa on this one.

Manitou have been pioneers in developing long travel single crowns. What could posibly make you think their top of the line fork, the flag ship of their fleet, isn't up to the task?

203mm for single crowns.. that would put a hell of a lot of force on them. Why don't you just get the 170mm versions. 203 for singles is overkill.

Manitou cant make forks..............

if teh crowns are similar to the sherman range of the manitou platform of products, then its going to be shithouse after a few months.. creaking, snapping, face planting....

talking from the exp here, 1-1/8 and 1.5 versions...

SUCK!

They sure dont look the same....

Experiance don't mean crap unless you actually ride the fork for a decent amount of time, which from your post, I gather you haven't! Shermans and Travis's are completely different forks!!

All of the Travis's are awesome, a mate of mine has a set of the single crowns on his bike and he has never had a problem with them. I also have a set of the Travis Triples, and love them to death! Never had any problems with them at all!

It doesn't matter what travis's you get, you won't be disapointed!

what do you think is better the darados or the new travis's i reckon the travis's because they are plush as a mother F%#$^r. and that they come in either triples or single crowns.

i like both of em,but yeh i would get travis, they do look plush and smooth.oh and ive seen single crown dorados, well they looked exactly like dorados.

well rickazz why dont you ask maltman that. he abandoned his darodos for travis and he says there is no looking back. but i think that as said before this is manitous flagship fork they would be aworsome. but 203mm in a single crown might be a bit of an overkill. i would just go for the 170mm. but 203mm still may be a really good fork.

Wrong, Manitou regard the Stance as budget. It clearly isn't aimed at "hardcore" riders/terrain.

When we set out to create a budget priced alternative to our Sherman line

Are u talkin about the whole manitou range? doubt it...

I have Sherman Slider pluses and i am extremely happy with them, i also doubt u will be able to snap em (in reason of course) Being triples they do not creak.
I am going to admit but, to have them runnin A1 u need to service them regularly.

Im my opinion manitou did a very good job on the Sherman Sliders.

Absolutely. I've got a set of Shermain Slider + with the '05 SPV Evolve cartrige in them. 5W damping oil and make sure you keep the lube up to them with the oil down the bottom (the bath). Turn them upside down when you're not using them etc. People who say they are shit simply don't know or don't want to know how to set them up properly. It's in the "too hard basket" and go home to cry to mum.

I was amazed at the difference the '05 felt and they are a super nice feeling fork. I've got a set of Travis at the moment and am still trying to find the feel that my Shermans had .... :( I've got to spend more time in the set up and I think the spring is too hard.

Back on topic ... Travis single crown should be sweet if that's the way you want to go, but if possible I'd be looking at the triples if you're going for 200mm and the bike is designed for it. Then again I doubt too many bikes are designed for 200mm single crowns anyway. The triple will just give you that bit more peace of mind as well as better feel due to less flex in the uppers. You'll notice that mostly when cornering and braking. The Travis lowers are considerably more beefy than the Sherman Sliders they replace. A side by side comparo is quite interesting.

In the end, no matter what fork you get you need to get the right spring rate, the right damping fluid and valving to suit your style and ambitions on the bike. When you get all that dialled in you'll happy as a pig in poo. [btw, I see there is a rather large market for custom fork/shock modification in Australia as there are very few services that let you truly alter the fork/shock to it's maximum benefit. But that's a whole different topic ....]

You'd only want them in a 1.5 unless you want a snapped headtube.

shut up, you know NOTHING about ANYTHING....

in future, when someone is talking about anything to do with any part of the bike, DONT post, because your either stating the obvious or just babbling shit
