one key for free riding if you wanna get into it get rid of your fear it will only hold you back from doing things.

this may seem stupid but i've seen people and i have done it my self 1ce or 2ce:o if your going to do something you've never done before you need to be fully commited, there is no point even trying if you arent confident and commited.

yea like allstar said, no matter what you do you have to commit and be confident in it. there is only bad if you get halfway off a drop and realise that you cant do it. just try and put all fear behind you. im not saying become bender just know your limits and gradually push them further and further.

yeh that AMB article was good. It helped me out alot Basically all it said is think in your mind you can do it and commit to it if you hit it with doubt sumthing will bad will more likely happen

indeed mr hucker:p

Just forget the brakes are there, and even if there is no chance you can do it, do it anyway, you will either get owned, or ride off in glory.

Anyway, most freeride stuff is easy, you just need to commit to it.

No your limits, but yeah keep pushing them, try different stuff, I started riding again with friends who love to XC, then found myself leaning towards a free ride discipline, now ive got the coilder, 66rc's and Iam only just starting going big again, yes you do get hurt from time to time, but remember to roll when it happens and try not to be tense, relax and commit, commit, commit............cheers guys & girls. ;)

first the biggest thing is having confidence in yourself, your bike and the n.s that your riding.once your sure about the n.s and yourself, hit it.if it's up high you wont wonna use your brakes very hard, even if your stressing out, because you will slow down and end up falling off.cruise along at a steady pace.at first you will feel like your pedalling is putting you off, just trust it and you should be sweet.be relaxed and let it flow,if you come up to a see-saw roll into it slowly, let it drop and ride it out,if it's a drop just say, bugger it and pedal hard at at.

hope these tips help out.

its sounds heaps cliche, but start small and work your way up,
eg hit the 5 foot drop to a bank then move up to the 20 foot drop toi tranny

its the same basic thig but with the first one you know that if you case you wont go A over T, and thats alwayes a good thing, right?

hope this helps,

try going no brakes and just stay focused.

if you take too long you will totally psych yourself out and then when you do hit it you will be on a crappy version of auto pilot and stack

experience has taught me this

When riding northshore don't look straight down at it, look a good 3 metres in front of you. You will ride straighter and not freak out as much.

With drops try try to be fast and smooth. Momentum is your friend the faster you go the smoother it will be.

These guys are posting some seriously good stuff here! I can only repeat what has been said, Stay focused, confident and whatever you do, dont become HACK/ HUCKER! If you are already afraid of getting hurt, then thats obviously not the way to go. Start small and go bigger. A good way for dirt jumpers to learn their stuff is to build their own jumps, small to big (tuning their skills along the way).

Good luck with it mate,

Stewart

Another thing that i rekon helps is to only have one or two run-up approaches to the drop. The more times u don't actually do it, the scarier it gets, also make sure that every one around you stays positive and not saying stuff like 'your gonna break your neck'. another important thing is to make sure that you havn't done a really crap attempt at a drop before it, go an nail a good sized drop and then come back to big one, this should get you a little more confident. With northshore, make sure your seat is DOWN!. The last thing you want is to try and bail and get caught around your seat.

Hope this helps
