Hey guys!
Two options - Psylo SL or Marzzochi Z1 FR SL (Air), has anyone had actual rides on either or both that can provide some comparison? I need some feedback. I am currently set up on the Psylo's but find them a bit flexy at times and have read some good write ups about the Z1 FR SL's on mtbr.com. I know Norco are speccing the top model 04 Norco Fluid with the Z1 FR SL's but other than that I haven't hear anyone on this forum talking about them (air or the coil version).

i got the z1 150 fr!

love the hscv damping and the eta is great.

i am not a great fan of air springs. but i would go with marz any day over rs.

I'm in the same position... I want a fork with 20mm axle that has some sort of lockout for climbing, so I'm deciding between the two.
The Z1 FR's flog the Psylo's in terms of rigidity, although they are a bit heavier. Whilst the Psylo's have the nice Pure damping system, I still beleive Marz's is superior, so if cost isn't a huge issue, I'd suggest going for the Z1's... plus the one-turn ETA switch is great!

the Fr is also available with a ally steerer for the weight worriers!

I used to run a '01 Psylo SL on my dually, which now has '03 Z1 drop-offs.
The drop-offs are good value if u think the z1 FRs are abit too steeply priced. While the '02 onwards psylos are supposedly stiffer modelled after the Duke lower legs, i had a ride on a mate's '03 psylo SL and it's still nowhere near an '03 Z1 drop-off.

if you're pretty lightweight and ride real smooth and it's gonna be on a lightweight(relatively) trailbike or a race slalom/bsx bike, i'd slap on the psylo. anything other than that, i'd go for a z1, FR if u have the cash, but the Drop-offs will do just great.

The Z1's are stiffer and i would rather crash with them because i think they would be stronger however if your not going really hard at it the psylos suck up alot more bumps and feel better.

I don't want to be rude, but on what basis have you formed your opinion that Psylo's will suck up more bumps?

The Z1's coil/air spring, combined with their fantastic speed sensitive damping makes for a fork that loves small and big bumps alike.

Just when i was using them both the psylos sucked up alot more bumps and wern't as tight, i did play around with the adjustments too.. but yer...

All depends on the setup of the fork. The air + coil setup of the Z1 means it'll be much more tuneable for 2004.

Thanks for the great feedback guys! It just so happens that I have laid my grubby little hands on a pair of 03 Z1 FR SL's (or even two pairs, but this is TBC). So, when I get the forks in, I'll rip off the Psylo's and whack on the Z1's and then I'll post some feedback on the difference between the two forks.
