ive gone to my local bike store and told them that i need a set of hubs for dirt jumping. the guy is trying to sell my a set of da bomb hubs. ive heard that the da bomb wheelsets are just a cheap buy, but im not sure if thats about the hubs aswell. i am just curious as to weither or not these hubs are worth buying and if i should pay $255 for the front and back hubs with skewers.

thanks for your help

ive had da bomb headspin hubs and the wheelset, they were great, the rear hub was smooth and had a great sound to boot. I still use the front hub and its perfect quiet runs well. id buy them again. the rims have lasted ages where others havent. all round good stuff.

I have a da bomb rear hub(165mm) comes with the projectile and it has taken some serious bashing. i smashed up one mag 30 coming up short on a rock drop, the hub never even showed signs of it. I've had mine for 16 months.

at one bike store my mate got them for $400 ---> staunch, at the same store i tired to buy them and they want $500 for them its all about how long the store has had them and how long you intend looking for the best but i would say between $400 and $500

The wheelset (hubs and rims) are pretty heavy, but I suppose that won't mean much to you.

and why im here, the guy that is going to build my rims said that he is going to use dt swiss spokes and that they are highly recomended. i just want to know weither or not he is just trying to sell me what he has in stock or if he is genuenly selling me a good set of spokes

They are good, depends on what type of spokes they are though. Ie, double butted etc.

I have da bomd head spin hubs on mavic rims 321 disc and 521 disc, they have been strong and fast, running for 6 months and no problems. Maybe shop around for better price, I had one complete wheel built for $250.[mates rates]:) :) good luck with the hubs.

w0h, that's quite cheap how are they going, as i have read the posts seems the hubs are going good, what about the da bomb rims, they any good?, i have ditch witch rims which i have had for a year and there still going alright except for the front (i nose case lots:p )

Mavic rims disc 321 and 521, have been stronger than ditch witch's sun rims, which I was running before. Ditch witch was still prone to pinch flats. Where running mavic and maxxis's hook worns, I have only had a few. The da bomb web site is well done, the artwork is still growning on me. Good luck with your rims.:)

I'm running a 10mm bolt up Headspin on the rear of my 604. After a few DH runs and street sessions the bearings got lumpy and tight (including the ones in the cassette body), made me think that Da Bomb didn't quite get the spacers inside the hub right causing the bearings to have side load when you tighten the hub up. After changing the bearings ($10 each from a bearing shop) the hub is running really nicely. Also it sounds quite nice after you clean out the grease in the pawls and put oil in it instead. The hub was silent when i got it.
