Help with making Sub-Titles in a movie/video

Hey guys and girls,
i am currently trying to just make a shortish little video and whatever and was wondering if anyone could please help me out wiht making subtitles over the movie while it is still playing.
I am using Windows Movie Maker and i can only find that i have to create a little slide thing in paint and then put that into it so i can't have the writing aswell as the movie still playing.
Any help with this could be greatly appreciated and if this has been posted before could someone please tell me.

On the left hand side under insert clips it will say. "Insert title into movie"

Use that.
